So this is round 1 of more layoffs this year for ATO?

After being laid off in Oct 2018, I am here to tell you, there is life after AT&T and you will land on your feet and figure out a plan. Take a few well deserved weeks to figure out what you want to do. Get in touch with a Fidelity Financial Advisor (free to all active and in-active AT&T employees) who will review your finances and do a timeline showing 3 different economic scenarios. This will give you some idea on what you need to do. If you retire, count on your medical to cost the same as it did while working. It will be deducted ftom your pension. Also, please know that whatever date you select for the commence date for your pension it will not be payable until 30 days later.
Actually for ATO this is like Round 10 (maybe more) or so. Surplus events have been happening quarterly for the past few years now. My team went down from 14 members to 6 members in those few years. They are cleaning house. It’s just a matter of time.
I am a FOW within 50 miles of hub and rarely go in to the office for the same reasons. No one is in my group and I am also often required to work after hours/early morning hours. The commute is awful. Agree we will find out tomorrow if cz vpn has been targeted.
1zkj and 1nbc - same here. I’m in a CZ and WFH 98% of the time. If I’m not pegged tomorrow, figure I will be at some point. When I have gone in to work at a crowded, loud table around people I don’t work with (all my co-workers are in other states), my productivity and time worked drops significantly. Yes, I get all my work done and then some at home. Next stop will be to find a company that embraces WFH if T kisses me goodbye.
@1zkj Same. I don't think my badge has seen a reader twice in the last two years. VPN is up 24x7x365 basically. It wouldn't surprise me, knowing how well executed plans are, if they look at the login count rather than connection time. In that case it probably looks like I never show up and never do anything when, in fact, the opposite is quite true.
I’m an FTO in a CZ with a very high WFH/VPN usage record (probably worst in org).
If I don’t get whacked then this round clearly affects folks in non-CZs only.

This is like round 3 for my group and we are going down in numbers again. 3rd quarter will be brutal. To the ones that are left working.... good luck getting it all done with no people. The new AT&T.
I was told round 1 (Monday) layoffs would be geographical, being in a non coll zone. Then on to remote, VPN overuse in 2nd Q. After that who knows but that layoffs would keep going every Q.
How will international be affected?
They are just warming up
2nd Qtr is going to focus on Intl.
3rd Qtr...be prepared.
I was told I would be safe for a quarter or two and now I am being told to prepare for Monday. I never counted this out. I knew it can be any day. Too young to retire but ready to move on. I find HR not very helpful. I have 15 years. What can I expect? A couple of months then off payroll? And I think it is 4% for every year for severance? And I think they keep the pension until you actually retire.
Maybe nothing??? Time to move on.
