Well, what passes for an unattainable socialism works quite well in Scandinavia. And many elements used to work in this country. Some elements till do: Social Security, Medicare. They are not as generous as I would like but they are elements of what many would call socialism. And here is another thing for you to think about. Your children and grandchildren will not have the opportunities you had because if you are a boomer you had cheaper but good education, maybe a real pension, a workplace that wasn't laying off every quarter. These things are going away not because of socialism but because of the same insane inequality that is driving more people to consider socialism and solutions drawn from socialism. No vitriolic rant is going to stop the inevitable failure of late stage, finance driven capitalism, whether I am an "id--t" or not. So, please save your vitriol for your real enemies--I'm not one of them.

So, if you believe that then the next question is "What to do next?". By the way, capitalism the way it is currently practiced is not inevitable. The worst parts came starting in the 80s. And I believe it is fast running its course. You can't impoverish the majority in a generation and expect that the society won't come apart. You have to see this all in context. I know that is hard if you didn't live through the changes but just giving up isn't an option. It will crack, the only thing is how will we steer the society towards a better future?

Of course it sounds familiar but you have to drink "leadership" Kool-aid to believe it. This is no different than the idea that building powerful routers from software on general purpose servers would save scads of money or that mm wave mobile will be ubiquitous and used to make, one of my favorite executive pipe dreams come true--autonomous vehicles. Autonomous vehicles are supposed to be right around the corner but they aren't. Don't be fooled even if "leadership" is. These guys all drink the same Davos Kool-Aid of desperation. The question is why are they so desperate to believe in these miracles of productivity? Because, folks, they have to show results year after year. Cost savings have to be made because business growth for behemoths like AT&T is OVER. And AT&T stopped really innovating a long time ago. They went from being technology driven to being finance driven. They have tried to grow through acquisition (DTV, Time Warner, other smaller entities) but it isn't working out. Now the cost savings have to be brutal for the executives to survive. We are in the final stages of the game of Monopoly. A tiny handful of players have all the hotels on Boardwalk and Park Place and the other 99.99% have next to nothing. There is no real growth to be had because these guys, the $30M+ CEOs already have all the marbles. The people they sell to are out of marbles to take. Welcome to late stage capitalism boys and girls. It's gonna be a rough ride and as Gil Scott-Heron predicted it will NOT be televised--at least until we can go back to having a government of the people, by the people, for the people. None of the talking heads on the infotainment programs that used to be news will see it coming and if they do see the seeds they will not be allowed to talk about what is happening. After all, they are paid propagandists of the people George Carlin called "the real owners". But we are close to the cusp. Minor acts of resistance are everywhere: teachers strikes, AOC beating a well connected corporate Democrat, the gilet-jaune movement in France, and I don't have enough room to list them all. I hope you all can see this in its wider context. It isn't just the predatory "leadership" of AT&T. It is becoming ubiquitous.
