Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T HR - OMG!

HR at ATT is a joke. Indicative in the surplus process. The first call where they talk about protecting privacy, then midway inadvertently outing all surplus call participants. Let's not forget their standard "call hr one stop and ask". They could have just sent that request instead. Oh and lastly, getting tired of hosting the weekly calls and cancelling all subsequent Tuesday follow ups. It could be a sitcom if it wasn't more sad than funny.

A real comedy of errors. And "I can't help you with that". HR contacts handling surpluses must be that hated job you get before they surplus YOU.

It is not to protect your privacy. This is done so employees cannot organize and compare notes. God forbid if a pattern was discovered by employees that could be proven in court of the company abusing or unfair practices on their employees.

When are you people going to realize- HR is not about Human Resources at all? HR is not on your side. It is simply an extension of the Legal Department and its entire purpose is to cover the company’s a-- and avert as many lawsuits as possible. The truth will set you free.

Yes, I was pipped out in 2017 with re-org of PCG mid markets move to CBS after 13+ years and I had to wait for legal cause the 3 of 4 people that were 40+ to 50 on the were pipped out to desolve the team. I'm sure they wanted checks and balances against descrimation suits from us. My meeting with new boss and HR, I asked the question; Am I rehireable and all HR could say...well maybe not for sales? WTF, no answer and just a vague answer! So many awards I wish I could have cashed in for money but not for refhite in sales? I came to realize they wanted me to turn in my notice so it would not be reported for unemployment. Basically ATT says ok...we will get you for this, your now lumped in with the terminated COB employees. I called into 1 stop after I was turned down for a job with a master Solution partner cause they new someone or got information about this from ATT. I contested the rehire status and some lady out of LA called me a month later to review my request from HR and I'm sure it was a contractor. I was notified via email weeks later my non rehire status was reversed to rehireable EXCEPT for sales, lol OMG.. People, always check your status because they are drones of contractors there and I'm just glad they did not list me as a terrorist!

HR is spineless. Even when serious issues are raised to their attention, they do nothing. Why not lay off all of ATT HR and save the company money that way instead of laying off folks who actually do some work?

Sounds like AT&T is using their industry leading world class customer service model to deal with employees. Clueless outsourced agents making up answers.

In our office 100% of the HR team is made up of disable individuals, good tactic to avoid contact, and avoid confrontation, only at AT&T

The minute that "Human Resources" was made into a dept everyone was doomed. Just the definition of Resources demeans the fact we're human beings, not some resource thats expendable and can be replaced like it's an object.

There is no HR dept. 90% of them are contractors. You can't make this @#it up !

And expect NO support whatsoever if you have been surplussed.
