Third Party Optical

I was told that Optical is going to a third part on February 1st from a member of upper management...but they couldn’t tell me which company.

Does anyone know who it will be for certain?

Did everyone else get the instructions to send all of these frames back super last minute? It’s so frustrating how they expect us to pull 150+ frames, help members and deal with the newbies in claims that are clueless on what they Are doing due to lack of training...

also has anyone heard we are going back to salary?

I highly doubt we are going 3rd party

Ok just say Hoya is taking over. Does that mean we work for them or Sam's? Just wondering

Did anyone else receive drilled rimless frames and then on the same day receive a pull and hold for them? Just checking

Let's see the invoice cause I don't believe that you got them only a week ago.

In response to the last few comments, most of the frames I had to donate were recently sent to me from the DC. Boxes of them. Why didn’t they just donate the frames instead of shipping me hundreds they knew I couldn’t sell in two months. Nobody can logically explain this by saying we are getting rid of our old stuff. Several I just got last week and they were on the list to donate.

Why not discount them like they do everything else in the club to sell through. At least we would still make money on the merchandise. And as far as audits go, the old stuff is a lot easier to count than the new stuff that has nothing to scan. Argue if you want.

You're right, we should just hold on to everything forever. Who cares about getting rid of the old and moving on. Some of us don't like making audits harder than they need to be.

Saying that nobody wants to buy them and they are useless is funny. A lot of them are the exact ones in the new line just with different item numbers. So I guess we are carrying useless merchandise that nobody wants.

Home office found a buyer for most of our old frames, we're shipping a lot of them out. This second batch nobody wanted to buy off us. They're useless. So they decided to donate them which should give them a nice tax break. Do you really think they'd want us to hold onto them forever? They're getting rid of them so we can focus on all the new frames we've received. It was clear this would happen from the beginning.

Optical is a NOT going 3rd party. If we were, it would have been last year, before setting up a brand new infrastructure and lab.

My P&L still reflects that I’m paying for these c-appy frames and remakes for lenses. We changed suppliers which does not mean we went 3rd party. But I think it’s around the corner. Why else am I donating nearly 300 frames before Jan 31. We would keep them and sell through if they were keeping us.

Sounds like to me it went third party back in April . That must be why some of our girls left.

I have been an optician for 30yrs and whenever you start seeing major changes like we have this past 9 months it always means someone else is making it what they want it to be. Why would you take a department that ran very well and screw it up like this? Not One thing has gone right since April 23rd and our service to members is suffering. So if someone didn’t buy us then the People upstairs are just id--ts.

So , are you saying it went third party right under our noses ?

This comes up literally every year. Goes back well over 10 years. Go ahead and look through the archives. Not going to happen. They've been pumping way too much money into the department to just give up less than a year later. They're not even done with the changes they started last April. There is still a round of remodels coming for everyone in the next two years. They say year, but they are moving very slowly and I don't believe them on time frames anymore.

I’m sorry but if no other optical manager is going to say anything I will! Its Hoya! They took over in April! Seriously does anyone in Optical not know that for sure!
