Satellite Zones

What about these so called satellite zones? Will they eventually be nonexistent by 2020? How long do you think they will be safe, since they are not collaboration zone locations? Thoughts?

Here is something no one can seem to answer or won't. They say you need to be with X amount of people in your org. SO if a person is a level 1 does not mean you need x folks under your level 2, or wait, under your level 3, or 4 and so on???????????????????? WAY TOO MANY GOOD PEOPLE ARE GOING TO LOSE THEIR JOBS due to this and many of those who do just enough will be safe just because they live near a hub.

Collaboration zones, Satellite zones ... what else will it be next ?

Do you still believe this BS from Randal ?

"T" will make @#it up as they like. Get real, and get a job elsewhere while you still have a job. This is not ATT - this is SBC !!!

heard it was a 50 mile radius from hub city --- i.e. collaboration zone -- if not on this reduction it will be on the next one

@bnj You may be correct, I don't know. All I know is that today, Bedminster is a collaboration zone. I also know all of it is nonsense. 5 years down the road "collaboration zone" will be another forgotten buzzword.

@bnj, do you really think Bedminster is going to keep collaboration zone status once the Warner Entertainment Group firewall is gone? It will be replaced by New York when we consolidate work sites. Just like Richardson is collapsing into Plano while the company acquires more buildings in Dallas to prepare for closing the Plano site.

@kua You're incorrect, there are more than 3 Collaboration Zones, and New York isn't one of them (Bedminster, NJ is). Do your homework. That said, all of this discussion is meaningless. They are using this "collaboration zone" stuff as a means to an end to reduce headcount. That is the only intent. It will blow over.

There are 10 collaboration zones, as has been detailed many times on this site.

@1eix, not sure about #3, curious myself. Probably depends on a few factors there, including your department and job title. Last year they made a big fuss about streamlining job titles, so guessing there a few that can be obsolete (outsourced) or a few where T has too many.

So what I gather from this thread is the upcoming layoffs are going to be based on your geographic location?

1) Not near a collab zone...gone.

2) Top performer, high ratings...doesn’t matter refer to #1

3) VPN/Telecommuter...gone in addition #1

San Ramon isn't one of the three collaboration zones though. There's only New York, Dallas, El Segundo.

Collaboration zones aren’t safe either. We had folks on the recent surplus impacted immediately that were in “collaboration” zones of Chicago, San Ramon, Ocala, and other areas. The only collaboration zone that might be safe is the one where most of your team is located.

Satellite Zones have never been "SAFE"... the only locations officially recognized to be "SAFE" (and chosen) by Leadership a few years ago are the 10 Collaboration zones. Satellite Zones are nothing more than locations sponsored by local employees to foster collaboration and engagement.
