In this round, it's based on skills, performance and ranking. VPN and telework status is not taken into account. HOWEVER, there is a large "collaboration project" initiative in the coming months where VPN usage and badge swipes will be looked at. Those who are full time telecommuters "should" get used to the idea that they will soon be forced back in a collab zone/hub. Some orgs may use VPN usage and telecommute status for this round or future rounds of layoffs.

Last I heard, Warner Media is a separate reporting unit and under a firewall. All bets are off once that appeal court issues their decision, but the Warner Media unit looked like it was doing well in the last 10-Q.
It is the Entertainment group, defined as "provides video, including over-the-top (OTT) services, broadband and voice communications services primarily to residential customers. This segment also sells advertising on DIRECTV and U-verse distribution platforms." - this unit that is producing lousy returns.
And in their last 10-K, they said they were going whole hog on automation. There should be another 10-K out this February.

Nope. According to Mr. Schieber, a particular group will be notified then there will be an individuial call from a supervisor in the next 10 days. The next rounds maybe based on collab/vpn usage/card swipes.
My opinion, I think forcing people in collab is one way to trim head counts. But they are still working out the logistics with CRE (corp real estate). That is why you can't really force everyone in the office tomorrow. It will take a few months.

Thank you for the information! There is a big difference between one badge swipe a week and badge swipes each day. I hope the collaborporation project provides guidelines for what is considered acceptable.
