Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Employee Engagement Survey

Anyone else looking forward to the next one as much as me (assuming I am still here)? Whaddya wanna bet these things just quietly go away? Can you imagine answering the "would you recommend friends/ family to AT&T as a great place to work" question? Wonder how that one would score these days?

Those were always a crock of you know what. They know who you are when you fill out the "anonymous survey" and what you said. Then they promote the corporate lie that everyone just loves their job and loves the atmosphere they have to work in.....the underlying message being "you're the problem , not the company"

@tiq we received the same note in Global End User Tech. So typical of AT&T's culture to game the metrics without understanding why the metrics are there in the first place.

If every employee in a Retail location say the same thing about a manager, what are they gonna do? Retail gets p--ped on all the time and theybpromote based on numbers and not managerial abilities.

They know who is saying things. First thing is you have to log into your computer. Then you login for the link to take, the survey. When I took my last one, at the top of the screen it said "Hello xxxx". It had my first name right there with the hello. They just say it goes to a contract firm who then gives them to management. I was always brutally honest. I was laid off in Sept but I also kind of volunteered.

One time they called all managers into a conference room and said that by 2020 60% of us would be laid off (and,i was in the mist high tech group of the district). And then the next week they sent the survey. It was horrible and we received an email from a V. P. saying we are supposed to give 8 or above. But in the comment section we can tell them what is wrong. The email made it sound like the V.P. caught a bunch of c-ap_. We thought it was funny.

Our directors are "preparing" for one in April by holding town halls, setting up committees to look like they are addressing current known issues, following up in department meetings on past eNPS issues, etc. They know it will be a bloodbath in April

Go ahead, take the survey. Understand that AT&T is much like a dysfunctional family member and will use the information to stick it to you were it hurts the most.

So much for anonymity...they know exactly who said what.

Take that survey at your own risk.

It may fuel vindictive leaders to clean house. Any ounce of empathy they may have had is gone when you attempt to hurt their image.

No good ever comes from it. Just more p-ss-d off higher ups with an agenda to remove the people who complain. They view the complainers as the problem.

Think about it.

Who’s ever been fired because of something someone said in that survey?

Who’s been indirectly fired because something THEY said in that survey.

Proceed with caution...

If there is a survey this year, don't fill it out - people not taking it has more of an impact than giving bad scores, that's why they get a hard-on for people taking it every year. Skip the questions and just hit submit , it'll generate a completed page and look like you completed it.

I’ve been fantasizing about this for quite some time. My immediate manager would read the comments from our team and the broader team on one our weekly calls. It was a hoot. The problem was- even if your immediate manager (and their manager) were very very good (which is my case), the a--holes up the chain don’t give a sh-- and they are powerless to affect change. But I still would love to hear the comments from my fellow employees after all the sh-- that has gone down this year!

They have dropped the “ would you recommend “ question.

Oh he11 no. They won't be doing that any time soon. And yes the managers are asked to determine who submitted the bad ones based on wording, sentence structure.

We had one last year. Results were so bad leadership had to formally address it. They made some speal about they were going to try to improve. Guess what? It’s worse this year than any I can recall.

Used to be a great place to work with awesome bosses. At least they appeared to give a c-ap. All of those bosses got shuffled out the door. All the new bosses are horrible. They don’t have a clue about what’s really going on.

@ywn Lighten up Francis. You think I don't know they were meaningless "BS"? I just enjoyed listening to management try and spin the results (which they had to share with us). It was funny. I can only imagine what those things would look like today. @rtf you may be right, it's been a while and I think we used to have to do those twice a year .

I was in Mobility Finance, in Atlanta, and once we were told we would have to relocate to Dallas - never saw another one of those things again. They are a waste of time and a joke. Our director was dinged on things out of his control - like the VP being hesitant to implement WFH days. Always the "need to be available to our customer" line, but our customers were scattered all over the country.

All the recent changes (seem recent to many of us) changes in benefit contributions , elimination of WFH , and the past few years restructuring is all part of a longer term plan to scale back head count that's been public knowledge. And more importantly to reduce senior head count that's why you see all these new opportunities in different markets.

Really??? None of that has any consequence, all those surveys are for are for HR to validate they are offering "value" all completely meaningless bs .

The only survey that matters is cash flow.. and if your not in a part of the company that's REALLY contributing to the bottom line in a positive way, your a liability simple as that.

its Continuous layoffs after promises of “we are focusing on growth now” which were clearly lies. They claim they added 7000 jobs last year. Yeah.... about that. You laid off 13k and bought Time Warner with 20k employees. Net 7000. What garbage. Got rid of discounts on your medical monthly costs with some garbage gift card program where you get taxed when you cash in your points and then you get taxed when you use the dang thing. Good job guys I’d rather have my 20 dollar per paycheck credit back thanks.

Now they are taking away WFH privileges from different groups of employees. What’s next, less discounts on service?

If they even have one. When's the last time they did one? It seems to have been a couple years.
