Awaiting appeal with my attorney, any insight would be appreciated.

Just prepare yourself, you are no longer a part of this company. There is a good life awaiting after it all sets in, it's gone. Sooner the better.
Empty barrel makes the most noise. STD was denied but not released from the doctor.
You were not fired for being on STD.
You may have been fired for something else, like traveling overnight or working while out on STD.
Yes, they will follow you if they feel the need to.
You can be laid off while on STD, but it is in effect on your first day back to work.
There is far more to this than you are indicating.
A tech in my group was layed off while on STD due his seniority(or lack of) What was the reason given for you being fired? Prove the post is not fake.
They denied my claim too, you will have to sue them. I hope you have an attorney in mind. Get ready for a fight.
You have to sue.. they’ll deny your appeal, don’t waste your time. They settled out of court. No, You won’t be re-instated.

Fake news ! Too many trolls on here to create a hysteria among the employees. Obviously, if you were approved for short term disability .. you were approved for fmla which is a protected absence. STD is congruent with FMLA.
