Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Tone Deaf and No Respect for Consumers or Talent

So J.Stankey in a town hall didn’t hold back in making the direction of T clear. They want you on your device, more hours a day, so they can collect your data and use it for the new advertising business they bought. I get it we need to make money, but the tone deaf and shove anything down your throat approach, so they can reduce debt may not work in society today, as we are beginning to focus more on health and privacy. I’m so sorry WarnerMedia and creatives, for what is about to happen.

“I want more hours of engagement,” Stankey continued. “Why are more hours of engagement important? Because you get more data and information about a customer that then allows you to do things like monetize through alternate models of advertising as well as subscriptions, which I think is very important to play in tomorrow’s world.” (Vanity Fair article)

Are you sure people are focusing on health and privacy? Seems both are at a nadir and people appear to have better things to worry about. Life expectancy is down, privacy is at all time low.

AT&T, chasing shiny objects that have already started to tarnish. Betting the farm on platforms that people are starting to flee from. Now that's leadership! Get on board, you detractors.

Once again AT&T is a day late and a dollar short. One of the main reasons for these takeovers was to mine more customer data for use by Zandr. Unfortunately for T, consumers are paying more attention to how their information is being used. The next US administration will adopt European-like privacy standards that greatly restrict company plans to monetize customer information. Oh, and GOT is entering its final season and NFL Sunday Ticket will face new competition. Great timing once again.

And this is happening at the same time data sharing companies like Facebook are under scrutiny and starting to take criticism for it. Randy will have to pay some bucks to Congress to keep the data mining policies going

We can always sell more landlines to create revenue. Toss in the 3-way calling features and we have it made.
