Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Leaked Screen Shot

Image seems authentic. This seems to be a conversation within AT&T, possibly labor relations.

Some managers were talking about it this morning.

Looks like that screen shot was legit. For those that will be affected in the 3rd quarter, you have three extra months of notice to find a job.

Definitely another list. Some groups are moving people now ahead of the announcement. If your manager knows your a good tech but something is coming, they may in not so many words suggest you transfer to another area if they want to keep you. At that point, they have a clear conscience that they did beyond what they had to, and you chose where to make your bed by whatever decision you made.

You think there are more lists then this one? I didn’t see anything about repair, business services, MW engineering or others. Will those groups be ok in 2019 or is another page we haven’t seen yet floating around?

In response to the last two posts:

March 15th is the announcement date and that would be for the 2nd quarter and those employees would be surpluses by the end of June.

It’s hard to know for sure whether or not the temporary OPT’s and FT’s are included in these numbers. However, the company did allow ST’s to bump permanent OPT’s in 2018 while temporary OPT’s were allowed to keep their jobs without having to relocate.

Seems to be some truth to the document. Just received notification from the Union that the company is contemplating laying off premise techs in Illinois. These are Ibew 21 techs. Negations to minimize impact on members has started with the Company.

Some areas in Midwest will start with techs with unprotected absences first and then go by seniority. Make sure your getting those ill days covered with fmla.

That D9 west numbers is massive, as stated it’s a lot of legacy DTV that they want to shake off before its new contract time.

Sad but not shocked. everyone but senior management lives in fear of losing their paycheck...I guess that is part of the 2020 plan

Thanks for reposting this. It looks like the original was taken down either by OP or AT&T legal sent something.

C&E has been on a death spiral since the mid 80's.

Low seniority I&R folks tried to get there to get weekends off, but were soon surplused.

If legitimate, the numbers for C&E techs would mean the end of that organization.

MESA stands for Mechanized Employee Surplus Administration and a business case is submitted through MESA for quarterly surpluses to be approved. This system is used by AT&T’s HR so it appears to be legit or at least written by someone who is familiar with the jargon used by those “in the know”.
