The real truth is these managers, directors have no idea how to plan and deal with negative times. They are like deer caught by the oncoming headlights. They are blinded, ill prepared with no planning skills, for that matter they don't even know what work is being done.
This is Verizon's biggest issue. Incompetent management keeps making ill-informed, bad decisions over and over again.
Imagine where we could be if we had good management and leadership?
Verizon's leadership is mostly made up of echo chambering self congratulating back slappers. They should be judged on the amount of money they squander.
"Oh, what? It's the end of the year and we still have $500k to spend... quick get a PO for something we don't need! Oh, what? The new hire is trying to negotiate $2k per year more in salary... F-Her! She's lucky to be at such an amazing company!"
Verizon has a government created oligopoly in the telecommunications industry. Do not confuse revenue with a sound business strategy.
So a company that's consistenly pulling down nearly 15- 20 billion dollars a quarter in revenue seems to the jokers at the bottom rung of the ladder to somehow be mismanaged? OK, gotcha...
This company knows what it's doing, they are repositioning to tackle the future, and because it doesn't fit your version of what it used to be, the sky is falling. I've been here 20 years. There has always been change and there are always short sighted malcontents and knuckle draggers claiming the same thing daily, loudly and repetitively. And yet the company somehow defies these cubicle and garage dwelling titans of business management and continues to survive. Funny how that works.
Mid -Level leadership is kept in the dark. We often find out minutes before the general population and have no input. The executives have no idea what is going down at the ground level and the directors are just doing what they are told as they are on very short leashes these days. They don’t even last 3 years anymore.
That ship has already sailed. The company is already damaged and crippled because of them. It is what it is, unfortunate from where the company had been, but your right the incompetent management continues to make bad decision, yet getting paid very well. Until you flush them down the drain, it will be the same results. No one with the right mindset would want to step foot within this organization.
