Who is taking advantage of the college grants offered to those collecting unemployment after the layoff? I’m interested in how this program works.

It’s called TAA and was created back in the 70s to protect workers after companies had begun offshoring work. Corporations are required to file the necessary paperwork with the Feds after issuing layoffs to employees when their work is being relocated. There are funds available that can assist those who meet the qualifications to attend training, get a cert or degree, etc. that will help them to become gainfully employed. This also qualifies to have unemployment payments for an additional 6 months (total of 12) where you are not required to apply for employment. You must provide examples of jobs you believe you can get upon completion of training. A lot of paperwork but worth it if you can afford to live on unemployment for 12 months and obtain certification/degree in that time. If you started college but didn’t finish, it’s a very viable option to complete that. Had I not received an offer for a position in a company that offers tuition reimbursement, this was the route I was going. If you are eligible,DLLR in your state will send you information by mail.
Who is offering it the government? Surely no WF.
