Offer imminent late March or early April

Survey was sent out to local managers to find out how many people they can let go, company wants all the retired in place people gone. Also, company wants to get rid of the do nothing millennial temps that think they are owed a job and hire the good ones permanent. Stay tuned.

Talked to 2nd level forman, company negotiating with union to hire temps permanent without going by seniority, I suggest you guys not working to your full potential to step it up if you want a job in the future.

Hi Verizon, I am an AtT employee part of the current layoff, my last day is 3/29, 4680 managers cross all departments were let go this January with 2 options take severance and leave on 2/18 or stay until 3/29 with ability to look for a job within the company and leave on 3/29, anyway this is what happened, last year we had 2 surveys 1 in January and 1 in June asking it we were willing to take a package without giving us any details, they have a number in their mind, let say 100, on the survey due date for instance 60 took package, the next month company forced 40 to leave with severance, this happened in February and July or June I think and it was à bloodshed.

This year we were not given this option there was no survey, no package, a list came out on Friday January 25th and everyone on that list received a call from their direct supervisor on Monday 28th reading a Script that said you are gone. My Natural reaction was to look for a job at spectrum and Verizon and I am reading your guys forums to realize that it the same mess everywhere, god bless America.

The company does not decide headcount by surveys to front line management. Each year every department is given a budget which includes a dollar figures to cover salaries, medical and other employee related costs. These are what drive the reasons for force reductions. Especially as the quarters pass and other line items miss target (could be revenue, cost savings , etc). The quick fix is to reduce expense dollars which includes employee related costs. Every year some work area does a reduction. Usually they are spread out over the first 3 quarters which will help make the year end budget look better.

Survey your @ss!! Local managers have zero to do with the decision on how many people can be let go.....if it were up to them, they would say none...because every associate they lose is less job security they have. The numbers are handed down to the director from way up the line. Directors have final say.

I can only hope that the retirement eligible comment is true. Verizon is skirting a major discrimination law suit if they put that action into play. They have already done so skirting around it by offering a volunteer program. I hope they enjoy their younger workers they deserve all the bad publicity that will come from their treatment of employees. I would pity a younger worker starting out with all the drama and none direction this company finds itself in today. To bad, because it was a great company to work for at one time, but know more after Lowell, and the executives along with Hans have lined their pockets.
