Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

PLease AT&T ---DO the Right Thing ! (for a change)

Can AT&T do the right thing and get the employee morale back up ? There are so many people I know that want to leave if they ever get an 'offer', otherwise they are not going to leave and watch all of their co-workers get surplussed one after another. Please make ONE offer this year---that is all I ask !

I'm sure other people on these threads have better ideas to improve morale----but this was my best shot. I have enjoyed my over 20 years with AT&T---but the last two have been very close to making me break down. Thanks---good luck to all the great people at AT&T !

@1twm - "There was an MVO last year that a ton of people took advantage of." There is not an accurate statement. They got nowhere near the numbers they were hoping for with that. The only "offer" associated with it was standard severance. It made no sense to take that "offer" unless you were planning on retiring anyway. As a poster below states, the last real "offer" was the one where they offered a pension kicker in 2015.

@2noc - Dependent on which legacy company you came from...some have always had the lump sum pension option.

Well for legacy T management they added a lump sum pension option last year (we only had annuity pension options previously) and if you retire by 4/1/2019, you get the lump based on last year's lower interest rates which yields a higher dollar amount. I guess that is a little kicker to make you want to leave if you were going to retire soon anyway and wanted a lump sum to manage your investment yourself and have money left for your heirs.

No offers in years? There was an MVO last year that a ton of people took advantage of. Now we’re left with the involuntary rounds.

Over 20 years of service and notified January 28th that my job is being eliminated because I’m not in a collaboration zone or hub city. Off payroll is March 29th. Getting 6 months severance. And just found out because I qualify for the M75 rule, I’m eligible to retire and get subsidized medical coverage. However, since I’m only 56, I still need to work because I have three kids in college. I keep applying for internal positions outside of ATO, but up to this point, no luck at all. 😩. Has anyone whose been impacted having any luck finding another job within the company?

What are these "offers" of which folks speak? There are no offers. There are layoffs and hopefully severance. That is all.

The Rat spent your offer on his T-Mobile fiasco and blowing a fortune on Direct TV and Warner Media. Now he's out of money.

Offer #1 - We will piss you off in to leaving

Offer #2- You will get 0 for leaving

Offer #3 - See Offer #1

Haven’t you heard? There’s a budget crunch going on now. The T can’t possibly afford an “offer” for you peons.

How much would be needed to get the fence setters to leave?

They aren’t letting anyone choose for themselves. They are doing the choosing and eliminating those in non-hub locations.

Maybe I am wrong, but the only “offer” I see being made available to us, is severance. They haven’t made an “offer” in years. Wish the best for everyone !!!
