Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The company doesn’t want a stable workforce

Sad to say this, especially as I have in my mind that the business looked like 10 or 15 years ago. The fact is that a career process of getting a job working hard, expanding your knowledge, skills, giving everything to the company and then retiring is not something our leaders find beneficial to the business and, in that sense, it’s a thing of the past. This is not just happening at V. If you look at other telecom companies you will find, more or less, the same pattern of dealing with the workforce. Younger, cheaper workers are welcomed, older and more expensive ones are always targeted, It’s easier to lose your job, constant reorgs are in place. Seems that they want to achieve a gig model of work where they get what they need out of a worker and then cut him, moving on to the next one. Sad no doubt, but this is our reality.

America is fracturing before our eyes. Companies are gutting the work force in the name of profits and in 10 years almost 30% of the jobs we have now as a society will be gone

@XLOrBQ4-iom Are they layoffs or being absorbed by Infosys? Also I thought in India, they needed 3 month notice for layoffs?

It is amazing that so many people still think there is loyalty as an employee. If Companies thought of being loyal to employees they would have pensions(not 401k) and so on. That mentality was out the window over 25+ years ago. A lot of people think there is still customer loyalty with like insurance companies.
