Talked to an upper management person today and said all the talk about linemen getting an offer is BS . Saints they are not getting one nor is an offer coming out that he knows of.

The old NYNEX was Run by a bunch of id--ts and when combined with Bell Atlantic, brought us down too. All of the states that were former BA are now in bad shape because of the baggage brought over from NYNEX.

CWA crossed IBEW picket lines in NJ at the central offices after CWA settled their contract in 1989.

Truth be told, to the best of my knowledge, IBEW pussed out in ‘89, leaving CWA doing the heavy lifting and holding the bag, with tbeir “me too” agreement.

To the best of my knowledge 1vgh, for those willing to stay out for the duration (NY/NE) to get an equitable contract, the 1989 strike was longer, but second to the strike of 1971, which was far longer. 2016, comes in a distant 3rd (over the last 50 years).

I walked the picket line everyday...even on days I wasn’t scheduled. Instead of calling someone a troll when they say the ‘89 strike was the second longest, how about asking what state we are talking about? If we were talking face to face, you would’ve probably had a civil conversation instead of attacking from the get go. Too much toxicity on this site. Instead of having a conversation and sharing information, first thing people do is start calling people trolls!

I agree that we don’t deserve an EISP , but Verizon wants to get rid of people bad enough that they offer it . If they give a nice one now I will go , but if not I will stick with my 4 year contract .

I was told some places went back before a tentatative contract waa reached with the understanding that they would get whatever those who stayed out ended up getting when there was a tentative agreement agreed to.

I was not here at the time, so I do not know. What I do know is it was almost a 4 month strike for New England and New York.

You guys are nuts! I walked the picket line with my IBEW brothers in 1989! CWA settled and went back to work (crossed our lines) and we stayed out another week (total of 5 weeks) before we settled. The two unions were talking about “UNITY” but the same people who walked the line beside us (CWA) crossed our lines (IBEW) and called us names. They will always be thought of as scabs! A union person should NEVER cross a picket line, especially one that you used to walk. Now you people that say the strike was four months long, you were not working for NJ bell, because the only two unions in NJ that represent phone company employees are CWA and IBEW!

ios, the 89 strike was almost 4 months long, I remember it well. So, what happened in in 2016 was not even close.

Because you chose to return after just 5 weeks, while others remained out an additional 10 weeks on top of what you did, does not change that fact.

Read it again....I said up until a couple years ago, the ‘89 strike was the longest one. What that means is: in 1989 there was a strike. (It lasted 5 weeks) then in 2016 there was another strike (it lasted 7 weeks)....so the 1989 strike was the longest we’ve had up until a couple years ago (2016). Can you wrap you brain around that? You’re either stupid or a troll yourself....probably both.

I am a young un but wise enough to be a legacy employee.

I value all past, current and future efforts to further organized labor. I've personally benefited and contributed. The benefits of which are sorely needed in this great country.

Yup, I was on the line in ‘89. Up until a couple years ago, it was the longest strike that we had. Back then, after two weeks, the union had food banks set up for the members. Good times!

Just rumor, in my opinion. 5 and 5 makes no sense; 3 and 3 makes no sense. They have plenty of people who are service pension eligible, unreduced pension eligible, who simply want a little extra cash before starting that next phase of life. They dont need age, they dont need service, they need the ISP or an eisp ro be a little bridge between VZ and social security eligibility.
