Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Badge Swipe Count, Screen Monitoring, FOW - No Direction

Doesn't it make you sick? I am tired of working under these Gestapo work conditions! Upper Mgmt has set the tone and Employees are bearing the brunt of their incompetence.. just answer the questions during these Town Hall meetings, Set the rules and expectations.. don't leave it to ones imagination what the rules are, SPELL THEM OUT, publish them, make them part of HR... Hell, you tell me to come to the office to collaborate... I do, then because I leave my computer and "Collaborate" with others in my building, my computer falls to sleep and I am going to wind up on a report stating that my computer was idol for too long? (how long is that specifically? How often is it? maybe I should not Collaborate... who says we need our computers to collaborate... isn't that what collaboration is all about? talking to each other? FOW, what are the rules? someone says 4 days a week in office... some say 1 day in the office... what are the rules? These leaders seem so lost, it is like a free for all! JEFF reports everything honky dory, we are not taking away telecommuting, but then why does not HR clarify, and either officially state What the rules are, OR what they will be.... whatever they will be is out of our control, but to be in limbo with no direction just makes for more p-ss-d-off dedicated workers.. the ones that will save this company . I know everyone will answer, " they are just doing it so your leave and less severance to pay out" but when everyone leaves, there will be no company.. wake up upper Mgmt - LISTEN to your base, get a set of balls and make decisions, good or bad... communicate them and make it clear!

Don't forget, if someone wants to hold the door open for you to come in, decline & swipe your badge so it registers. How ridiculous does that sound? When your IP address shows up on a report that you were on the LAN, how would they think you got in the building that day? Are these upper management people that stupid??

"I hear a certain VP is coming to NJ within the next 2 weeks for some employee sessions, however I doubt the opportunity to ask any questions to get clarification on this will be allowed."

New Jersey is a "WARN" state meaning companies have to notify the state 60 days prior to layoff. Check the link below and select one of the months to see if AT&T is on the list.

And if you can do your job without interacting with a customer or using your hands to dig a trench or climb a ladder, your job can ALSO be done from india for $10k a year. Stop s---ing management c--- thinking just because you looked them in the eye while you did it makes you any better.

If you can do your job from home for $70K+ a year someone can do it it India for $10K.

Guess what choice saves the company $$-which is all they care about.

No offense intended, but it's true.

You people who rank on telecommuting have no f---ing clue what you’re talking about! You can be a macho f--- thinking you know what you’re doing, but you have no clue! I do a great job for this company, and have not one reason to go into the office to do my job. It’s called a computer you f---ing mo--ns! Grow the f--- up!

"looks like somebody is in deep deep pain after Jeff MC announced continued support for telecommuting."

nope I am a full time telecommute I am just sick of the company using it the way they do. It is a code of business conduct violation IMO. they use it as some sicko tool.

you get sick of them using it so if they continue to do this then force everyone to come in and be done with it and if they lose people than so be it. they just need to man up about it and quit being so vague about it one quarter after another.

"The same troll felt the need to post three times below" not the same but the troll(s) are right.

seems like if you want the company to man up and just have everyone come into the office you are a troll.

The whole WFH is a disease in the company and wish the company would stop using it to make people fell better than other people when they really are not.

"What a ridiculous generality of a post! Not everybody who works from home is a pompous jackass, there are some great workers in that group and some bad ones, Just like people in the office. If you don’t do your job, you should be gone but not simply because you work from home and are approved to do so. I am an approved full-time telecommuter and I have no reason at all to ever be in the office to do my job. If you can’t comprehend that, tough for you!"

There are tons of jobs at good old boy att that can be worked from and are not. To cut all the badge and vpn nonsense the so called "leaders" should man up and make everyone come into the office. If they don't they should be sued.

the people who work from home all the time think they are geniuses and are indispensable to company. they are nothing but pom-pass you know whats. just a note you are no better than someone who comes into the office all the time and your time will come. if you think you are safer than anybody else you are kidding yourself. but enjoy it while it lasts.

one day the company will man up and start treating everyone equal and make you come into the office. you are still just a number to the company even though your relative manage may make you feel special.

yeah the people that never make it into the office for years and are permanently work from are a joke.

how can they have a cube assigned and not show up for months. I guess they are related to someone or some senior "leadership" . Good company keep it up.

I don't get how some people can work from permanently and not be touched. I don't care how good they or their boss think how indispensable these "leaders" are for the company.

What a crock. Just make everyone come in and man up and be a so called ethical company.

If Jeff is that id--t at the Davenport Iowa location good luck. Talk about someone who pretends to know it all but knows nothing when you ask him a question. Fck he is stupid Hahahhaha. Good luck at Lowes. The best advice I could give if you stay is to pretend like all the rest of the smiling clowns pretend. When Jeff asks you to do something nod yes and look at your feet. Then, go ask an ASM about what he asked you to do. Because Jeff doesn't know S*t. Smile and walk around and talk and talk and talk. If there is a code 3 or 50, find a customer to talk to. Or, hide. that is always a good choice as well. 30 minute dumps, extended breaks on the clock. No one is watching you. F- them.

I agree with you, original poster. Ever since the complete AT&T (from the mobility standpoint, Cingular + ATTWS), it seems there are always these "unwritten rules" and mandates that are never documented or really fully explained. And if they are, in fact, policy, then they should. I just was surplus'd and have been an approved full time telecommuter for over 6 yrs, and the reason given for my status was "geographic location" as I am far from a collaboration zone, yet in the midst of much of the actual equipment my team supports. Then to hear JEFF say that the telecommuter policy hasn't changed, its like, "Wait-what?" If it hasn't changed then why was I surplus'd with that reason? My manager emphasized to me repeatedly on our call the 28th that this was nothing at all to do with my job performance.

Honestly, the new "unwritten edicts" that I have heard recently from my teammates about what is coming soon, many of which you mentioned, make me much relieved I am about out the door. I honestly don't think I could last under these new conditions on the way. I'm thinking a North Korean prison camp might be less brutal.
