Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I’m afraid we are at the beginning of a long and painful restructuring

If we couldn’t see the signs before, we sure have the opportunity to see them now. The talk of consolidation, bringing in telecommuters to the office are just signs of a thorough restructuring that the company is about to go through. A lot of the company business has changed and it would be surprising if the structure stayed the same. Just look what happened to Verizon, with the buyout of more than 10k employees, and they didn’t even change their business model half as much as we did. My complaints go to the manner in which this is starting. A sneaky way, no doubt, keeping the workers clueless and telling them nothing is happening.

20/20 training is a joke, lotta people did the useless training and we’re still let go!! Just another PR stunt to try to make the Company appear as caring.

@iza Verizon - you are correct. Unload the pension obligations, high salaries and mucho vacation. Backfill where needed at half the cost.

Go to Verizon's website and look at all of the hiring they are doing across the board now. I find it interesting given the amount of management that just left. I guess they just wanted to cut ties with the more expensive long term employees.

I haven’t even done any 2020 training. I’m non-management and was told we need to do it on our own time which I don’t have time for. Ridiculous

I actually think I remember Randy said we could operate on 1/3rd of the work force, and lose 2/3rds. Which of course would make 2019 quite the bloodbath.

Nobody should be shocked with the recent layoff and restructuring/consolidating notices!! You were all told in 2017 there were huge changes coming, and that we would be able to operate utilizing only 2/3 of our present work force. It was up to you to seek training for 2020, or look for another job outside the company. Nobody is safe this year.
