Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Thank You CWA

T Hired 20,000 non union workers and eliminated 10700 union workers in 2018, What good is any Union if it can't protect it's members jobs? Thank God I got out of the CWA 15 years ago. The rest of you keep sending your dues each month---What a waste of $$$

AT&T did not hire 20K employees. They acquired 20K employees when they merged with TW. This company is not hiring.

We are the union and no I’m not an officer or steward but I know the union is only as strong as it weakest member. When we can’t stick together and do the simplest things the company knows this and they fight back. Also when your elected officials put people on the labor and they are anti union it makes it that much harder. I’m not saying the union doesn’t have its flaws but trust these corporations are not paying what they do out of the kindness of their hearts. Let all the unions go to the way side and see what you get. Food for thought. If you’re not part of a solution to the unions issues then your part of the problem

The CWA is a corporation of its own. They take money from employees and AT&T with secret agreements. The priority of the CWA is money, just like any other company.

Supervisors do see a benefit to the Union. When someone needs to go and has broken rules . All they need is the facts produced for the Union and the Company. Once the facts back up the reason for dismissal that is all she wrote. I don't know why the workforce has such a time abiding to a simple handbook. Look at the trouble makers in your organization. Every place has them. When they complain they are in trouble for missing too much work or the boss is so unfair. Ask them to back it up. They can't. Then you punch them in the face and say Thanks for make making our business unit look bad. Those types of works, the complainers and habitual violators are tearing the workforce apart and killing production. That is half the reason they outsource.

It is unfortunate that this is the truth. Unions were great years ago when people needed safety on the job and quality of work. Now, especially with the millennials they are led to believe the union is a shield between them and the company to save their jobs and spit in the face of supervisors. The call center I work in is terrible. All everyone wants to do is be nasty and hateful. One guy who has missed more days of work then he was there told the union that is was personal reasons and should not count against him. Seriously??? Remember when you are let go, the company paid your wages and benefits. Not the union. This will be the only wakeup call you will need in life when you go to another job and some union puke is smiling saying "join and you are sacred". Unions are worthless in this type of work. But they sure do enjoy your money every night when they are out eating steak dinners. It's the truth.
