What are your thoughts? Does living near or at a Collaboration Zone guarantee no layoff? A little bit? Not at all?

@X36LDKS-hfy BLOATED? Since when is employing Americans...being bloated? The truth is that these same "bloated" jobs are being sent overseas....because it's CHEAPER for the company. That's not being bloated, that's being greedy. Did Randall Stephenson take a pay cut? I don't think so.
There are no guarantees to retain your job at AT&T. All managers are at will. Keep drinking the kool aid and see how long you remain employed.
Working remotely from a state that AT&T has no business presence gives a high chance of getting laid off. But layoffs are still happening in collaboration zones. This round of layoffs is the same thing that happened last year but to different orgs in ATO.

This is all part of the plan to reduce the bloated 230k workforce down to something more manageable like 180k by next year

Of course not. Nothing guarantees you are safe. Depending on the city and your department, you may be less likely to get hit this round, but then again more factors into it such as your job title and how many people the office can fit, since more people will be coming back to it full time.
You wish... Really, it does nothing aside from allowing you to be able to commute to the office. So, that's a good thing, you may be able to stay on the job but the fact is, they may cut you as well. Really, no safety net exists and they did this to get rid of people without having to pay severance - this is in my opinion only, I do not have any insider info - I am a grunt and I am looking at this down-spiral with great sadness. This used to be a great company that cared about the worker - this is obviously no more. God bless!
