@X25pOnz-1iwr ATO stands for AT&T technology operations. It is the core management apparatus of AT&T wireline, wireless, IT functions, software development, etc.. Not knowing what ATO is as an AT&T employee is like not knowing who the sitting president is of the country you live in.

You can break ATO down further into CDO and you don’t have to guess. CDO said outright that 5-6% FTE’s will be targeted, specifically those outside the 6 CDO locations , which are not the same as the 10 collab cities, and those telecommuting. Not sure the total number of employees in CDO (not contractors).

Earnings report for AT&T is 1/30.

If they want to report some action to show the market that they are doing something to reduce expense, this will happen I would guess the week of or the week just before the report.

ATO - Tech Dev specifically will be the current target - Huge Budget cuts - Huge Layoffs

@mab your guess is as good as anyone's.. consensus is that anyone outside of those areas is at risk, lists have already been pulled and there will be no opportunity to relocate..

So what if we are not in those zones, will we be given an opportunity to move to those areas. Me, My boss, My boss's boss are all not in any of those zones. So is most of my team and our team is spread across internationally too.. What's the yardstick here for the cuts?

@ckv yes this article is useless. those are the areas they want you to be.

If it's any indication by the 10 states mentioned, which some also happen to be collaboration zone locations, that is the magnitude of the upcoming surplus. Let's face it, T is in a world of hurt, more specifically laden with more than $180B in debt.

It says that "the states in the layoffs will include New York, California, Texas, New Jersey, Washington State, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, as well as Washington, D.C."

Do they have it backward? Not saying their won't be any from the 10 colloboration zones, but the main focus is the opposite, right?
