Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

When will these changes be implemented?

This week? Month? Year? So much vague info, so few details...

They told us (ATO org) the ranking had already been done and they have the names. AM provided just a simple rank of their group top to bottom. The thought is they are applying other factors like WFH, distance to hub city, screen time?, etc. to the AM rank to bash with all the other AM groups. Director had to approve the list of names.

Speculation is they will try to force others to leave by requiring movement to central locations. Something was mentioned that it had to be a location with at least 30 other ATO employees. That makes more sense than one of 10 hub cities or whatever. It's probably different depending on the organization.

That makes some sense- my boss just alluded to shortening a long term project. After some thought, thinking it may be because they are aware our team may not all be here to finish it.

yes they know, and they will try to tell you they had nothing to do with it. my manager lied to me so much about it holes kept developing in her story each time. they have no backbone at all -just speaking from experience.

AMs are to submit their rankings by the 11th. The process from there through legal is beyond me. If your AM says they know nothing you are being lied to.

For the poster who seems to know the dates, do you know if the list is made by now? When would supervisors find out? I am assuming Directors will be 'handed' a list of names and not numbers, since this is a targeted surplus.

I think it's sounds weird for a Monday as well, but 1/28 would make sense since that is 60 days from end of March to be off payroll.

Which will be never unless you are blind. We pay the price to make the company look good to investors. Anyone below Jeff’s directs are disposable.

Yep. No volunteering, relocation, or “follow the work” is going to happen. If you’re tagged, you’re out. Take your surplus money and move on. You’ll be much happier not going through this any longer.

1/28 is the date the surplus notifications go out. 1/29 the all clear to those not impacted go out. This is not being handled the same way previous surpluses were.

The email from Jeff was the notification. No other communication until the 28th.

My take is that the McElfresh email was your ‘encouragement ’/option to take retirement if you are eligible. Next communication should be a day of 2 or 3 calls. Per another group, there was 1 early which were the people surplused immediately, the second call was to notify a group who were to be impacted soon but names not given for a week or 2, third call in afternoon was to notify those not affected this round. I expect we’ll be told either the 18th or 25th.

Does anyone know if they're going to first tell groups they're affected and give people a chance to take retirement, or are they just going to drop the hammer on folks on the 28th?

Did you mean to type 60 days to find a job?

Sick and tired of current generation not being responsible for their actions and wanting to blame someone else. For the older generation, hang in there my prayers are with you. Young people feel sad for you.

Under McElf, notices go out 1/27 or 1/28, 30 days to find a job, off payroll 3/28. Folks being told they must report to an office now to "collaborate" which is just a way of saying do it or be at risk. Morale at an all time low. Happy New Year.
