Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Now I'm confused

If 44k got the offer and only a quarter (roughly) accepted, how many does that leave to be laid off? I'm assuming it's not 30k as some are saying, that'd be way too many, but do we know what was their goal?

And are there areas where fewer people accepted that'll make them much more vulnerable to layoffs in the following months?

The rule of thumb is to expect 25% positive response to a proposition, whatever it maybe. So, if the desired take up is 11k then number of offers to be made is (11k x 100)/25=44k. At 10.4k is close enough to a Bingo!

From what I've been told by many folks working on the labor scenario, Verizon is looking to shed between 35,000 and 40,000 jobs by 2021/2022. This 11K is lucky because the rest will be RIFs.

The number has been confirmed by folks in several departments including HR, Finance, other orgs. Take it for what it’s worth I am passing it on, time will tell if it’s truth or not.

Automation and massive job redundancies created by the new consumer and b2b orgs will help get to that number, as well as a much more carefully managed new product approval and developmental process (we do launch tons of products and services that no one wants and go nowhere- this is no surprise, we all know that amping up revenue with tons of worthless and marketplace laggards/me-too launches has bloated our company operations and culture- those days are over).

Hang on it’s a tough ride!

Everybody. That's the goal.
