Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

27 years, now unemployed.

So work for Sam's Club they say, you'll be treated well they say. Yeah right, only when Mr. Sam was alive. So let's see, do a great job, you get a great review, they'll give you the maximum raise. Do that year after year after year, until you are there for 27 years. Now, all of a sudden, you're told that you no longer have a job, same receiving job that I've been doing for the same 27 years, due to that you make too much money. Now the GM can't tell you that but my Dock Supervisor and I were both let go. I helped open the club in my area, came to work, poured my heart and soul into that club, and this is the thanks I get. I'm sure anyone that is visiting here is already doing this but tell your friends and family, if you are currently working for Sam's or Walmart, they'll be gunning for you eventually.

@WzDtacg-xvf Very well said and I agree it’s not personal, it hurts but life does goes on.

To anyone that gets displaced, you just have to go through the grief cycles. I hope for anyone they move quickly through the bitterness it’s a bad place to be stuck. 💕

I thought a 6 and 7 were a level C ? Even going up one level should only get you a 5 percent increase not 2.00 or more. WTH. Rewarded for doing the same job. SMH.

Last year when I left after 28 years, I didn’t take it personally like the original poster. It had nothing to do with job knowledge and loyalty. A lot of companies are doing the same thing to save on expenses and to compete digitally. Leaving retail was the best thing to happen to me ! Good luck and best wishes to all!

Thank God!!! Most people don't get paid to leave they just get fired and denied unemployment!! Relax for 6 months and plan your next move😊

You were making 20+ an hour to do something a minimum wage worker could do. get over it.

Not everyone that took the backroom position got a raise. Fyi depending on who got the position claims and the dock associate would get a raise. The lead and receiving clerk got nothing

It's been this way for more than a little while here in the U.S.

Loyalty is long gone, from either side.

The lifeboats have all been set adrift, it's every man, woman and child for themselves from now on. . .

Not those type of options, I meant there were no level B or C full time positions available.

Don’t you only have to work 27 hours a week to keep benefits and pto since you’ve been there so long?

Took a new position and a nice pay cut to boot. I will be maxed out at a level A with the next 2 percent raise. No other full time options.

Walmart and Sam's have 2.2M positions. Apparently you weren't valuable enough to fill any of them.
