Meaning, those of us who are left are really screwed.
I'd just like to know if those who were rejected can consider themselves safe at least when it comes to the coming layoffs.
It should be a given, but this is Verizon we are talking about, so you never know.
@pdb - 10k didn't "take it", they just were not denied. Allowed to keep it. There were many more who would have "taken it" but were denied. As for taking it, those of you who unclicked - are going to take it and without any warmup if you get my drift. The severance will drastically drop. They won't keep being this "generous".
Jan 1st week onwards they Will start informing who all are targeted for next year hearing managers will be asked to leave and in march leads .band 5 resources will be informed.by June the whole cleanup will be done..and vz2.0 will be in full swing.

Suggestion for the rest Polish the resume, learn some new skills, get done education on them and move on..The RIFs will only come faster now.

From just the people I know, many more were not accepted (including myself) than were accepted. So if they wanted more they certainly could have had more. I just can't believe 90% were accepted. Seems like BS to me. Way to drag down moral.
Call centers and Stores as well as individual market ops (reduce from 6 to 3) is next target, and they are not offered with VSP.
Bad Logic. The VRS is for 44K. 10K accepted..that means 25% approximate rate.
Bad logic/math. 44k were offered the VSP but we don't know the actual target they were trying to hit. They did not offer it to 44k intending for 44k to go. They alsi shipped some off to infosys. The question is what was the ultimate quota? Was it 20k? 15? We don't know. All we know is that they will probably RIF, sell or rebadge some more employees, I suspect 3rd quarter will be a bloodbath, but no way in hell is their target 34k.
