No matter what we do, foot traffic continues to go down, and with it our sales. Is everybody else having the same issue?
We've had dips before, but this downward spiral has been going on for a while now. Long enough to have me worried that we might be on the next list of closings.
Southwest Florida here. I know our club is in a large downturn for numbers. We've actually looked, and some of our top members are actually spending half as much as they used to. In top of that, since our club is largely based on snowbirds, who are not too keen on self checkout, so have slowly stopped coming in. We really do feel like we might be on the next list of closed clubs, but we'll wait and see.
A degree doesn't help a thing when you are a senior citizen. In fact, it makes it harder. Read the research. Women past 65 are hardest hit, even with a degree, they are the last to be hired.
Our foot traffic is down overall it seems. But we also experience a slump this time of year.
For the responder that said, be thankful you have a degree, it isn't always helpful. Why should they hire you and possibly have to pay you a little more when you might not stick around if things improve in your chosen field?

Ohio here. It's Christmas, and I stand at the end of my register, waiting. When I first started, this place was beyond packed in December. Lines, around and down the aisle. Maybe it's scan n go, maybe it's self checkout, or the internet, I don't know. It's weird, and for me it is scary. At my age, I was lucky Sam's hired me. I have my bachelor's and an associate degree, but when you're old, you're out.
