Do Not Look Back

No matter what, do not look back. Be confident in whichever decision you chose. Whether you go or whether you stay, YOU MADE the right decision. If you submitted on day 1 confident in your decision or if you waited until the last minute and backed it out you made the decision that you needed to make.

.... for those leaving It's a combination of a crazy workload and messed up morale. It's feeling unappreciated and knowing that no matter what you do, it is never enough. It's being threatened with a performance improvement plan and then being told you are ranked in the top five of your district, for the year not just the month or quarter. It's realizing that the money is not all that important anymore. As you've looked at your finances and you can probably survive on less. Your family life will get better because you'll have more quality time to be with your loved ones and not taking stress out on them. In the end our family is all that really matters anyway.

..... for those who stayed, you thought about replacing the income that you've grown accustomed to. Or out of fear you questioned yourself and if you could do anything else as successfully as this. Maybe you said I can handle the added stress and chaos that is about to come my way because I only have so many years left. What it boils down to is we each made the decision we needed to make. And we all agree on both sides of the decision, that Verizon is not the same place that it used to be. Whether we have union-represented employees reporting to us or management employees reporting to us we love our direct reports. They are near and dear to our hearts, and for those leaving, that is probably the only thing that made you second-guess staying. And for some of you staying, that also weighed in the reason that you unchecked. Personally I made my decision to leave and at the same time if I'm truly needed at this company, someone else will make the decision for me to stay. Then I will be completely bought-in as I was before the decision and as I am right now. For those who are ready to leave just stay focused on the work you have because it's going to get worse when you're gone. Let's make sure we stay on top of what we have to do for those who will be left behind. It's the right thing to do. Verizon has lost a lot of talent in this decision and they had to weigh that before they released this offer. And I would assume on both sides of the fence there is no longer any loyalty to this brand. This was positioned in a way that you felt forced to take it or you would lose out on a significant financial amount. It was positioned in a way of much uncertainty after the decision. How can anyone build their personal future on that foundation? I wish everyone the best of luck. And I wish we all had the answers that we deserve before the 10th. We can all look back at leaders that we've had in the past and change that we've had to go through to make ourselves better. I would guess everyone who has went through this offer... has learned how NOT to do things.

Thanks for the positive vibe of this post OP. It’s easy to be stressed over what these next few weeks bring. I asked to go. Whether I get it or not I’m confident in the answer I gave. I have put plans in motion for either outcome. I’ll just be glad to know what the answer is.

As other people have said this is a good post. @WsNQirE-ynn also had some insightful thoughts.

If nothing else this made people take a look at their finances to see where they were and if close many chose to accept the package.

@WsNQirE-ynn if you wanted to work here before all of this started then just give the 100% I assume you were always giving. Take it as a blessing that you still have an awesome income. If during this process you've learned that you don't want to work for the company any longer, then you've been enlightened and now you can take the proper steps you need to get your resume together or your education if needed Etc and start applying outside. I am sure several people in this situation have made that exact decision, to stick around but actively be pursuing other employment in the meantime. Sometimes what we go through is to help us realize what we Do Not want anymore. Some of us have been holding on to this place as it was our identity. And during this process now to find we are not defined by Verizon. We're defined by Who We Are. If you stick around and you're not accepted but you understand you don't want to be here anymore.... isn't that a blessing in disguise? Would you have said the same thing 3 months ago if someone said, do you want to leave? Most of us three months back, may not have liked what we were doing, or the company for that matter, but we were still dedicated to what we were doing. So if it took this shaking us all up to make a decision either way then just run with all you have no matter the outcome. Money can't buy your happiness!

If you are in IT, and stayed, I would expect Infosys phase II coming to a company hear you.

I would not be surprised if most of IT is rebadged in the next few years.

Note, I have accepted the Infosys offer. If it is a failure Infosys will not get anymore rebadging.

So, I think they want to make it successful.
