They will get replaced with new inexperienced people at half the pay rate. Let them learn through mistakes or expect the techs to simply tell them how to do their jobs or ignore them as techs do not need the foremen to accomplish their work if they are good at what they do. 90% of the techs are very experienced and can get the work done without their foreman's intervention. They will be needed more for administrative work.

Doubtful that Little Donnie Moscow would let the Fed approve any merger as long as HuffPo is still part of the company.

@1pfm not sure where you are getting 1/3 of the workforce since only 11,000 took the VSP. As I recall that's just about half of the mass exodus from 2003. And Vz survived that.

Been through this before, had massive people leaving a lot of talent gone. There comes a time when shedding is good for some and not so good for others. We all that back then it would be tough , but 20-30years later the scenario keeps on repeating.

You people are smoking some good sh####t. Verizon is letting go of 1/3 of the management workforce and offering generous separation packages. They are not looking to replace those employees being let go with anyone. Get that straight first.

Second. Ask yourself why would they want to reduce headcount so drastically?

There is a major merger in the works. Huge !!! Bigger then when Bell Nynex and Gte merged. In fact I can see the unionized Telco side going right back to the Ilec regulated bells. Remember the 272 days? Remember how Verizon became a long distance carrier? Well Internet Regulation is coming my friends in the US. VZ is trying to be one step ahead of the game and selling it all.

VZ ain’t having no time for infrastructure. They want to sell 5G Wireless to consumers and that’s about it ! IMHO

As a human body, should I want to shed some weight fast, I suppose I could have 1/3 of my brain, my consciousness, removed but, truth be told, that incapacitates me, accomplishes little positive for me going forward, and leaves the bloat in place.

It’s performing lipo, removing the new, useless, fat that has only recently gathered around the middle that will truly trim a body, while leaving its sensibilities 100% intact.

@1oci, my guess is the 2016 Contracting Initiatives Letter might allow wiggle room going forward. Strictly my opinion, I’m no lawyer.

But, I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night 😀

“Are they going to replace the field managers with new hire's off the street ,young bloods that have no clue about construction, cxm, line work, installation, and repair..???? - OP

Looking at it logically, the same men and women will still be doing the “...construction, cxm, line work, installation, and repair” the day, week, month and year after you leave, should yo get chosen. What’s your point?

If a school principal calls out sick, classes still go on BAU.

OP, hoping you get whatever you desire.

Peace brother, and job well done. Stand down, if that’s what you’ve chosen, or stay in the game and enjoy.

Maybe Verizon will outsource installation of 5G. It is cheaper to hire outside contractors then employ people. Think of the expense just in healthcare VZ can save by outsourcing jobs to other companies!

They will not hire, maybe a few.once their 5G is up and running and they have enough customers on their 5G network ,may take 10 years, they will get rid over 1/2 their work force

I agree that one person is not irreplaceable, and can be replaced with younger/cheaper talent that can be trained.

The issue here (IMO) is the effect of getting ride of A LOT of talent at once. It’s going to be funny to watch VZ pi—big on them selves over bean counter dollars.

Sure! Hire them for half of what you are currently making and provide them with training
