Coached out of our jobs

CPM, absolutely the truth, we are being written up and coached out of our jobs. You are right most customers walk in the door and say I want this or I want that, nobody comes in as says tell me what phone I want and why. When I ask some of these customers " probing" questions they look at me like I'm a fool. They may ask what the difference is between iPhone a or iPhone b, but they know they're going to buy a damn iPhone. If I ask a customer to tell me about their day they do one of two things, look at me like I'm from Mars or change the conversation to something else. My managers will try to sell to customers and get the same results, yet keep busting our nuts because we won't do this c-ap over and over. We just keep beating the dead horse, why can't I just sell the way I want to, and why do we only get negative coachings, I have yet to get a coaching that says what I did right! Why the hell can you write me up for 4 half-a-- made up coachings, out if the 100s of transactions i do per month, it only takes a few bad coachings to write me up, what about all the good things we as reps do.... they don't count. Just one of the many reasons no one wants to be here any longer.

Have pretty much the same experience. I couldn’t agree more with @WkIOl10-1dtv that this is an ill practice that does more harm than good.

The "Oh God the employees are scripted" look of someone who suddenly regrets visiting the store yet still wants to get this phone purchase done.

Wow, I've seen it myself when I visited a corp-ran Wireless store. I guess I figured that the company drove customers through a process to drive accessory or plan add-ons that won't happen in an authentic shopping experience?

"Yes maam. You're a socialite upper-middle class homemaker with three kids. You NEED Vz Cloud Backup services to preserve your very special life moments more than any of my other customers, right?"

It has been that way since the first job I ever had for most positions. Be perfect and no one cares. Be mediocre no one cares but mess up or do things not by their book you get disciplined no matter how great you are.
