What are people considering as their next employment option? Joining one of the big companies (such as AT&T) or sticking to significantly smaller companies this time?
I know if I'm laid off, I'll stay as far as I can from anything that even mildly resembles Verizon, even if that means lower pay in the future.
20 years, lots of network knowledge and experience still with Vz and under a union contract...being looking around for a while now and have not been able to find a similar pay...Vz pays very good and offers good benefits...I just do not see any future for my kind anymore, I wish we were offered this kind of package they did to mgmt....enter next year and I will even consider around 20k pay cut to get rid of stress and non-sense going around in our field.
Small companies, startups, and non profits is where I am looking first.
Self employed in a completely different field. Almost 20 years of company politics has burned me out. The S/O is employed with benefits that we will move to once ours runs out. The buyout and 401k after taxes will pay off our house and the little bit of 0% interest debt we have. Not old...just dedicated. Looking forward to it!
No driving and no sales. Priority is m-f no overnights.
Everything around here even though we have tens of thousands of job openings is just above minimum wage so the only difference is what hours. The trouble is convincing them I really want the job long term and I’m not “overqualified”

Thanks to my 401K and Pension totals combined with the Payout amount, I am hoping to be a bag boy at Trader Joe's or something fun like that just for something to do while my wife is at work providing us with continued benefits. Prioritizing getting a job that has NO email address and will be fine it it comes with a name tag.
