Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

This was taken from a post that was made 10 months ago. It goes along with what was said about direct TV talking over membership:

Membership assoc will walk around with tablet sort of like the Apple store, desk will be refunds only. Groupon, Home office mailings, digital coupons no longer need outside sales

Our marketing lead has been trained for ptc work seeing ours is leaving Dec. 7. So if marketing lead gets eliminated whose next?

Are they actually letting go of the night managers???

So when are they suppose to eliminate marketing teams. We have been looking for this over 2 yrs now

The over night people were told about it a month ago . All the teamleads that are staying will all be interviewed for the two positions. There will be one or two freight runners. Remember, there doing this to cut man power. There will be major cuts.

When is Marketing going? Is that date Jan 5 too? If they offer severance package how long do you wait to receive?

so with nights coming to days will the night receiving folks still be in receiving??

When did they or when are they making this announcement about overnight?

Next year Club's will open at 10 A.M. is this true?

Front line news ! night crew going to 2 shift's ! 4 A.M. - 12.30 and 3P.M. - 11.30. dropped that on us last night Starting Jan 5th. also going to let one or two manager go ?

We heard yesterday night crew shift now 3am to 11am. Two team leads no night manager. And the later pm shifts would be filled in by floor partners.

So which is correct? 3am to 11am or 3pm to 11pm for night crew??

By now must if you know. On some of east coast 3rd shift is done in January. Will have two shifts 4am 12pm and a 3pm to 11pm

Folks have til dec 15 to decide what shift and if there staying. They are not taking their current shift differential. Offered severance pay to those folks over a year employed and if part time have to be here 5 years to qualify

They do that already with phones.

Giving a people access to all the members information, including their social, DOB, DL, doesn’t sound like a smart thing to do, if they give access to a 3rd party.

I dont believe that Direct TV people would be in field selling memberships. The cell phone people cant even answer questions concerning their phones how could they possibly be successful at selling Memberships 😂🤣

The whole direct TV comment makes sense. Does anyone know what has happened to the regional sales teams. They could use them for marketing sales and membership. They already know sales pro and have access to the wire. Just a thought. No matter what the current membership teams are out. That is fine with me

Was told by Direct TV associate that their manager said their company would be doing marketing after first of year. Most of it woukd be direct mail, groupon etc. Some would still be in field and that would be run by same people doing phones, direct tv, etc.

If anybody can guess or anything what would they do to a gas station attendants if anyone can think what they eliminate gas station attendants or what they cut full-timers what would be the best answer I know they got to have people out there. Cuz I'm trying to figure out only thing I can figure out is they full timers and his keep all part-timers out there or just eliminate the department the or let Walmart Market Gas Station take over that will be the only thing I can think of anybody else have any other ideas what they would do? 🤔

I thought I remembered from a call when they were discussing the upcoming changes to sales pro they were saying that it was going to be linked to mtracks which then the sign on is the same as the wire. When they are out in the field they can directly enter the memberships without having to take it back to the club.

The last post is correct about wireless. They have sign on also

@aoh - 3rd party wireless has a login for the cell phone kiosk and I'm 99% positive they have Wire access to get the promos, so that requirement for SalesPro is invalid.

If you read the new updates with salespro it requires your wire sign on. Salespro is no longer from a 3rd party. So if they were to hire a 3rd party Marketing team (which is stupid, they should spend their money on advertising in other ways, would be more cost effective) they really should’ve kept salespro as a 3rd party because a 3rd party Marketing team won’t have a WIRE sign on. With them spending millions on this new salespro, unfortunately I doubt they are eliminating the Marketing team. My prediction is that they either eliminate the Lead ( why have a lead with only 2 people to look over), or restructure/rename the position, just like accounting and receiving.

With all these changes and eliminatiins ..... where is everyone going to go when they lose there job ? They are already cutting hours and trying to run on the smallest of budget. Its like there forcing people to leave. If you have the choice ...... jump ship before it goes under ....... remember they dont care about you or your family ....., make plans now , for when it happens

I am praying they eliminate Marketing as well. It's a position that has become useless to the company.

Interesting. I wondered why we have two leads on overnight now and we have lost a few people and it seems like they are in no rush to replace them.

They could launch the new sales pro getting it ready for 3rd party marketing to take it over. Also, look at last year with clubs closing some of them from my understanding just went through a remodel...etc. it just doesnt matter. They are going to do what they want. I pray that this post is true. Marketing needs to go away. It has become embarrassing. I am a mtl. I hate it, the sad thing is, this was a position I enjoyed so much. Ready to be gone.

@pds - they launched new programs for receiving and got rid of those positions. Marketing isin't save, no one is.

Plus how do we know it won't get pushed back? Or canceled?

They are launching Salespro 2.0 Dec 5 that’s marketing!

Nobody can confirm until it happens, but yes we're all getting similar info. It looks like there are going to be a whole lot of changes this year, but they could also space it out throughout the year. It's anyone's guess.
