Why not give the button pushers and everyone they "targeted" originally their off-payroll date on 12/10 with the full VSP package? There were a lot of fence sitters and wait and see types that didn't push. That would remove all ambiguity and make the path forward clear for everyone.

There is a risk in maintaining systems access for individuals after being told they will be released. And based on the level of access the risk may be significant. VZ will weigh that risk and determine how much they're willing to accept. All a button pusher can do is exercise patience.
I'm with small team guy. If you don't know to carry your weight until the end then Verizon is lucky to lose you.
There are a lot of issues regarding reporting and taxes as well as spreading out the expenses for the VSP packages. Most importantly, they need to figure out how to manage the workload. They had a lot more volunteers than they anticipated.
Why would they let anyone go right before the holiday? Doesnt make sense to me.
I have the same feeling as yours. I'd rather leave on 12/10. It's wise for them to let you go if you already decided to leave, sooner rather than later.
I'd rather be allowed to leave on 12/10. I'd totally take it! But I know Verizon wants to drag me through the wringer to drain every last ounce of blood and sweat they can before I go. As a matter of fact, I'm fairly sure they're going to tell me "no" regardless of my tenure and welcome me to Infosys on 12/10 instead. Who knows what this shady company will do just for the kicks of mistreating as many people as they can; they enjoy it.
I'm on a small team. If one of the guys on the team clicked and had an off-payroll date of 12/10, we're screwed for a couple weeks until we can get everything shuffled around. The extra cushion helps the people that are left so we can balance work load. There are also button pushers being replaced that have to train their replacements.
