Infosys Rebadgers losing patental leave

Is there anyone currently expecting, with a spouse expecting, or going through an adoption process who are shocked to find we are losing parental leave with the rebadge? Is there anything we can do, seems like discrimination since they promised benefits comparable at an aggregate level?

To go from 8 weeks to 3 days seems unjust. We should organize.

@WjGpwne-1huv - it has nothing to do with grammar. It has everything to do with spelling. Its the basic tenant of communication. Something we all learned in 1st grade. If you don't take pride in whatever you publish, it says a lot about you as a person. You DOOSH!

@WjGpwne-1anr - yep, I do it more than I would care to admit.

If you are already on or have an approved upcoming leave, have you inquired as to whether your bridge payments include the value of this?

huv, that's petty. While some grammar here is atrocious, a minor spelling error such as the OP's is obviously a typo rather than a lack of knowledge on how to spell parental. Did you really believe the person thought it to be spelled that way, or is the more likely scenario that the key next to the intended key was hit? It's an easy mistake on a tiny screen.

@WjGpwne-1huv - The "Grammar Police" strike again! I think most of us knew what the subject was regardless of the spelling.

patental ?? Good God, why can't people learn to spell before posting on this site. 3rd graders should not be allowed to submit anything before checking their work.

OP, to be fair, if the employee's in New York the benefit is better than you're describing. Under a New York law that went into effect on January 1, 2018, most new parents who work for private employers will be eligible for up to eight weeks of partially paid maternity leave a year (and up to 10 weeks in 2019 and 2020, and eventually up to 12 weeks in 2021). Either parent can have the leave, or both can "share" the paid time off by divvying up the allotted weeks.

In response to the comments:

  1. India law is 26 weeks for maternity leave, so that is what indian companies are required to provide in india. US is actually less, 12 weeks fmla protected unpaid, i wish we got what the indians get.

  2. I asked vz hr and infosys a million times what their parental policy was. They would not answer, said info would be on infosys microsite once available. Then once microsite was available we had 2 weeks to make our decision between infosys or seperation package. I reached out to hr a million more times, with no response. Those who work for vz know those who select a seperation package do not know what their off date would be. As a pregnant person past my 2nd trimester to not know that info is impossible. Id rather have taken a seperation package if i couldve been confirmed my off date prior to selecting it.

That s*cks I’m sorry t hear that. I dialed in to every HR call except 3 of them. That topic was never brought up. Not by HR & not by any employee posing that question. Curious, are your medical benefits the same going to Infosys as what you now have? If so maybe it was an assumption parental leave also remained the same ? Verizon should fairly & clearly point out all the differences an employee should expect going to Infosys.

Indian companies don’t give a c-ap about this. The women stay at home with their mother in law and the dad works and is never a dad to their kids.

I am sorry that you are going through this, but if it was an important consideration, why did you not ask during the many town halls they had prior to the decision making process or send a direct email to their HR team before you had to accept the offer?

U think a Indian company cares about you. They dont care about their own people. Look at the sh--hole county they live in. And it's a sh--hole...
