Most want connection even more than they want shiny content, and if it's available in essentially unlimited quantities over fiber optic networks at a reasonable price (because different retail providers use those same transport networks to compete for customer affection, thus driving down prices), they'll jump ship, the qustion becomes, who will be responsible for deploying services, if the government allows telcos to do as they wish.

CWA could accept the generous final offer the company gave then a few months ago. It's not like AT&T is doing so well that they can afford to meet every demand. No one wants another Hostess incident where the union strikes and accidentally bankrupts the company.
Meanwhile, the Midwest has been without a contract for the better part of a year and the CWA does NOTHING. Midwest voted to authorize a strike, yet CWA has done NOTHING. Americans all over the nation, such as non unionized teachers and service workers have been striking and fighting for their rights, and we have a union which does NOTHING!
