@2tou -- that is true VZ did sell a chunk of wireline but they needed the money so the props got sold. Vodaphone cost the company a sh-- load of debt. As well they sold fiber along with those properties.

Granted the company could take wireline and sell it off and make VZ nothing but a wireless company with advertising ambitions. No real problem because they will be not only be leasing back what they just sold but they will also be able to offload their tower techs and perhaps wireless switching centers to the sold off wireline side. Wireless wants to operate just like the 'paper carriers' of LD bygone days.

My personal belief is that Verizon will no longer exist as a brand in five years. Sell off or spin off the wireline and take the wireless database and the OATH / Yahoo properties and sell those to Goggle, Apple or whomever. Wireless can't be sold to another existing U.S. operator due to regulatory issues but it could be sold to a non regulated entity such as Google, MS, or Apple. All three of those companies have more money than God and could swing the capital to buy the wireless side.

To comment below mine. Vz has sold wireline in other states and kept vz wireless. They just pay the new company for the pipe. Just like at&t and other wireless carriers do in the area you work in now.

@1eim ..... exactly ..... the company won't give up wireline as that is the pipe that wireless uses. It is still hard for the wireless folks ( and the trolls ) to grasp that wireless only works because of the wireline infrastructure. Fiber and copper to the towers along with the C.O. equipment makes it all happen.

Wireless is only a brand with a database. Well, OK they have a few wireless switching sites but the truth is the C.O. techs are more than capable of taking care of those wireless switching offices along with the power as well as the equipment at the base of the tower.

Better chance we will see the wireless switching centers and tower equipment moved under the wireline umbrella.

Lol why do the union employees expect more sh--? It’s not like their rights aren’t protected. They don’t deserve to leave— they have everything they want. Hahahaha. OP is stupid.

Nobody wants the plant without the COs, and Hans and giving those up. Nice try though.

If they are planning on selling, there will be a huge EISP. The new buyer does not want old wood. They want less payroll and a lean payroll.

IF there was a sale , better to get rid of the old and costly dead weight . I think that would be a prospective buyers view . That being said , I don’t really see a wireline sale because of the way they broke downs the business .

No time soon . You are still needed a tiny bit . No offer unless wireline gets sold off or until 2021 when pension raises are done

After FiOS is sold - that's when you might get one but it depends on the buyer. In today's outside plant industry, 1/2 of all dispatches are contractors. Ask direct TV , cablevision, etc.

Don't hold your breath.

I don't see one until mid 2019, right before the pension increase. Then one in mid year until 2021, again right before the pension increases.

Not until all the low hanging fruit has been plucked. It will take a while.
