You guys crack me up. There will be no nationwide 5G in the near future because of lack of fiber to support it, the number of nodes required, and the patience of the town people to allow all of the small cells. Of course, someone also has to pay for all of this. Pixie dust central.

FAST program is a joke. It will fail here in the NE. It is useless. They will go before any FAE go.

What is the FAST program?

Atoll's ACP will take over for 5G if they really end up wanting to blanket the country in millimeter wave. Just too many nodes to use an army of RF engineers. But 4G won't go away for a bit longer. I heard one analyst (I forget who, maybe at that Fiercewireless conference earlier this year) say that they expected 4G to be the majority of revenue through 2025 or maybe it was 2030.

SP will hang around and end up getting RIF'd when SON is up to snuff. That will take at least another two or three years I'd guess.

FAE might get outsourced to something like Ericsson in the next three. Maybe sooner if the FAST program really works the way they want it to.

And oh, these changes will probably take place at other carriers as well.
