Wireline has been lean for a decade. If anything, wireline is going to take over more wireless equipment and move the non-union, no job security having scabs out. The people are on the payroll so they have to keep them busy and they can't be fired. You figure it out.

Now a days Shank seems to be watching too much of sponge-bob.

Wireless has all the bloat.... hence where the fat needs to be cut.
