Selling off the profit makers- GE in discussions to sell the jet-leasing business

As this article reports GE has been in discussions to sell the GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the jet-leasing business to a private equity firm Apollo Global Management. Look like the only thing that is a revenue-maker is going to be sold. I really don't like this strategy of selling off profitable parts of the company in order to raise cash and try to fix the unfunctional ones.

They are selling whatever parts they can while they can with the exception of aircraft engines, power and part of medical. The rest must be sold. They just need the money. They've been clear they need the money. There's no deep dark secret.

Sign of desperation. Need the cash and need it fast. Selling what they can before management devalues it anymore. Plugging the holes in the dike.
