I let AT&T get the best of me

So glad I quit Att . I left on my own choice mostly because I had a mo--n as a manager. I am in a company now that actually gives me work. If you didn't talk out of you know what even though you are wrong you get to stay then they get rid of the people who have to clean up all the "leaders" garbage. I let that place get the best of me but when I put my resume out on the market with my skills I got three offers on the first three resumes I sent. I don't understand how people can work in the environment at att and keep their sanity much less their productivity. They should of never let SBC buy all the baby bells back.

Randall being on the council of foreign relations told me all I needed to know.

@gqj I totally agree... I suppose it's time for a big re-prioritization in my life. I've just been head down working, and then taking care of kids, etc. and been hoping for the best. Looks like that time is over. I guess I need to talk to someone about this, Sadly I think I'm in the same boat as a lot of American's, about 30K in credit card debt, and have no idea how to start digging out.

I wonder what it would be like to work for a company that didn't constantly threaten me with getting laid off.

@WZAThnH-1zxy unfortunately there are many like you that do not have an action plan to replace their current employment. Even though the handwriting has been on the wall for sometime, I know several that put themselves at the mercy of the company. It's not a smart plan to place your future hope in a single corporation. You should be working harder towards getting out of debt, selling off stuff you don't need, and sticking to a budget.

What really keeps me at AT&T? Sure as heck isn't the outstanding work environment, 20+ years of living in constant fear of losing my job, and all the while living paycheck to paycheck, so if I was laid off I would be immediately in dire straights. I've never worked elsewhere in a corporate environment, I don't know that I could get a job for at least the same pay as I do now. I'm hoping for the best all the time, but terrified of the worst. Upper management most likely knows this is the case for a lot of people, so we are really at their mercy. I have no idea where I would even get started, it's literally been more than 20 years since I made a resume, I have no job seeking skills at this point. I don't even know anymore what it would be like to work at a place where I could work really hard and not have to worry about the ax falling on me for a random reason.
