New registers

So today, 1/6 after closing, new registers and self checkouts are being installed. Is it safe to assume that our store would not be on the closing list??

Our buyers are Costco rejects so no shelves will not work. They cannot count and know how many skus each cat. should have. They preach a good game but no way in hell they going to cut that much merchandise. The next thing you are going to hear is since there are no more shelves you will not need as many hours which means more jobs being cut. Once they are cut and gone then slowly but surely they will say sales have dropped so now we have to bring in more items and add back the shelves and no you will not be getting the hours back that we cut we think fresh needs a 3rd mgr so the hours are going there.

Getting new registers means nothing. It can be a huge tax write off if they decide to close. Besides this company throws money away like water. The only time they care about money, is if it’s going to the associates.

Safe? Never. If your inventory levels are not low then you theoretically should be okay. But they are also changing everything on the sales floor with this pallet driven c-ap. Removing all the shelving and pallets only means probably a lot of cancelled items are coming. So who knows.

No way to know until it happens. The club in Caney, TX had only been open a year!

Not necessarily. Fixtures can be moved to other clubs. Communication on club closures doesn't start to trickle down until a day or two prior to the announcement of the club closure. So it is entirely feasible that you get a bunch of new registers and fixtures and find out next week you have a month left open.

S---s, but that's the Sam's Club way.
