This is geared towards those who are in sales with AT&T. I have been with the company 20 years and I’ve always been in a sales role from rep to sales management In Call Centers, Retail and now in the B2B world. Over the last six months I’ve spent a healthy amount of time on Glassdoor and Linkenin and I’ve noticed a lot of sales management opportunities. I usually brush by a lot of these just because I got 20 years with AT&T and the Comp Structure has always been fair here, however that’s changed a lot over the last year and I don’t see it getting better. I am now on pace to make what I used to make 15 years ago working twice as hard. A buddy of mine once told me the best way to give yourself a raise in sales is to move to another company. What is everybody’s experience been with looking at B2B sales roles in software and technology sales outside of AT&T?

The answer to your question is all about how much risk are you willing to take. You could and I mean COULD have the possibility of some tremendous upside depending on what company you work for. I work at Ultimate Software and the money is way better and the company is growing. However, I had to uproot the family and it was stressful as hell for a year or so but all the chips have fallen into place since then. I’m not gonna tell you that sheer luck doesn’t play a big part. I had a college friend that worked for Ultimate that got me in. The company is a referral only type hiring process. Good luck my friend! Always keep your eyes peeled and push forward!
