Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Does the reorganization of Oath into VMG mean more layoffs are in the making?

Thought I would have a good laugh reading this article as the author claims that Oath is the second dumbest company name in corporate America, but at some point, the author made a pretty logical conclusion that we can expect a wave of layoffs in light of the restructuring of Oath into Verizon Media Group. This is definitely more than a rebranding and a name change and the proof of that for me comes from the statements of Verizon executives that they “are exploring ways to supplement weaker-than-expected advertising revenue and potentially wind down some AOL or Yahoo brands”. Mayor reorgs are coming, and I think we all should be aware that nobody is safe.

The savings does not happen this year, or next year.

The savings will be after that.

Why would a company trying to cut 10Billion in costs layoff people after taking a 4.5Billion Dolla write off?

Verizon's IoT sales volumes still over the next five years seems trivial. Not necessarily because IoT has problems, but because the consumer uses are few, and the big sell on smart cities is wrong.

Today my medium-sized city uses a commercial metropolitan radio network to relay information (such as GPS) about its fleet of vehicles. It would prefer to do much of the same with smart traffic lights. The real problem is that they're going to use a commercial digital radio system. Think compatibility. Cost.

IoT has its issues, but even then, CELLULAR IoT is a more difficult proposition.

its interesting that she is heading up up an IOT and connected car businesses after force feeding failure and bad decisions in verizon's IOT space. Smells fishy to me. You would think verizon's board of pigs would look into something like this but they're good for nothing. Gonna make sure the shareholders get wind of this and use their hooves to claw some money back.

The whole lot of em should be culled and processed into lard

For all you Marni fans out there, she heads another company, Globetouch. I am sure she'll make terrible decisions there too. Unfortunately, she is not the only one who ran the company poorly. Her name comes up more frequently than Lowell's on this board. SHE REPORTED TO HIM!
