Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layed off in July 18, ATO coach... Still cant get hired on with a bachelors degree??

I'm truly thinking that ATT looks bad on a resume... I was "surplused" in July and still have yet to get hired by a company? I was with ATT for 16 yrs, as prem tech, then manager of net operations, then ATO coach for the last 3 years. Now companies I've interviewed with say I dont qualify for the management job they have. ATT looks to be a black eye on your resume. Good luck to those looking or are beginning to look for paycheck elsewhere. Being 32, I would think I would be a great assest to a company having a successful track record, appears thats not the case. Thanks a whole lot ATT, life is grand...... might be flipping burgers for 12 bucks per hour. Wonderful....

Update your skills and education. You started with T at 16? Did you drop out of high school?

Maybe it's your math skills, you were with the company 16 years and your 32 doesnt add up.

WCxEIUN-hsl Clearly you don't have any marketable skills, and since you are incapable of writing an articulate sentence, that does not surprise me.

Budget cuts in 2019, both capital and expense. This usually means downsizing not far behind. Hopefully most done through normal attrition and no backfilling but some incentives may be offered. Any offers will not approach Verizon’s offer

It sounds like you need to just take a look in the mirror and regroup. Are you on LinkedIn? They have some good resources that can help you improve your resume and your approach. There is a cost associated with their service but sounds like it's something that might be worthwhile in your case.

A lot has changed in the last 16 years. Companies are not looking to hire people without a degree, and the skills sets needed today are far different than in the past. IT has a limited shelf life and most companies are going to look for recent college grads maybe with a few years of experience, but are not going to be interested in people who have been out of school for years.

More of a babysitter job than manager. At least at the prem tech level.

Yeah the math doesn't add up?? I'm going to give them the benefit of doubt that there was a typo to there post. I too have experienced a very difficult time finding a new job after being let go back in May '18. Former L1 manager in IEFS. I've also had employers tell me that sorry but your qualifications don't match there management requirements. Very confused when hearing this as I was a top performer in my region but not one of the AM's pets. Looking back maybe I should have worked harder on our relationship, ie butt kissing and less focus on my team of field techs..... na, I can live with myself knowing I did my job as assigned. I come to this page to see the latest news, because I still have company stock and do like to see what the company news / gossip is currently. Just a heads up for any soon to be laid off employees, HR is pretty much useless on helping with job placement resume updating and when it comes to retiree discounts on your wireless/internet/tv you have to contact onestop multiple times to get your retiree discounts in place. Seem they don't know how to get the system to accept a surplused employee into the system??? I know, shocking right.... lol. Good luck to all of you, it has been a roller coaster of emotions the last 6 months but I believe the right job will come around eventually. Good luck to all.

According to your post, at 16 years of age you became a prem tech. Practice dodging dogshit and reapply.
