How long before you make the jump that you were expecting too already?

When the dust settles, I believe a pattern will reveal itself, VSPs were handed out to work groups who don’t fit in for whatever the future Verizon blue print is. In my grouping everyone who applied was accepted.
10 yrs is nothing. The company wanted the 20-30 yr crowd. I don't know any less than 20 yr people who got it. Some did for sure but if there was a choice they went for the longer tenured person. Maybe some groups aren't all that necessary and could all be whacked or easily replaced. Some groups all got denials for "business reasons" no matter the tenure.
The denied are the saddest lot. When thinking about it in general the people who don't have confidence to get another job didn't apply. The ones who have the confidence did apply and many of the most valuable got denied. Sorry people. Punishment for making themselves valuable. Maybe it pays off in the long run maybe not.
I applied for the VSP, thought I was a shoe-in for it as I was one of like 3 people in my group that applied for it. Turns out no one in my manager group got it but 50 others did from other work groups. They said it was based off tenure but I think something else is up as I have over a decade with the company. They have not been transparent about any of this.
For the person that said there was an appeal process, I am looking into this tomorrow. I was stoked about the severance package and starting something new. I will keep others posted on here what I find out.
@WATan8t-ukj I think everyone is using the word tongue-in-cheek, because it seems that everyone denied was so "valuable" and "critical" to the business.
@WATan8t-mtu where did you hear this?
You’re so vAluable. How will the company be screwed. They save on your buyout payout and if you leave they will only pay you until that time. Clown!!!
Company could have approved VSP and kept me til Jun since I'm so valuable. Now when I give them 2 weeks notice and bail, they are the ones who are screwed.
@WATan8t-qgm I wish I could trade with you. My denial has me sick to my stomach. I'm happy for those who benefit from this, but it's hard to celebrate with everybody.
@-qgm If you wanted to be denied, why did you sign up for the VSP?
For those that are denied, there appears to be an appeal process. I know someone that was denied that has started this. Contact your HR business partner to find out more.
Denied but resigning, fortunately already had something else lined up and moving on to other pastures.
I know 2 people that were denied, but already had other jobs lined up. They both submitted their resignation. VP thought he could talk them out of it. He was wrong.
I would gladly trade for my denied! If only that were an option.
Ready to jump ship now and say screw you for taking me through a rough emotional ride for nothing. But I’m sure that’s what they’re hoping for- to lose 1k more without having to pay the VSP benefits.
Are u high? No future here..
I was accepted. Wanted to be Denied. Anyone who got Denied, wanna trade?
