Replying to "long time banker", the evil of the layoffs notwithstanding, what makes Wells evil is the evil stuff it does to its customers.
The layoffs are to protect shareholder value at the expense of people, communities, and America, if you believe that what is best for America is an employed population.

All fortune 500 companies have always had cyclical hiring and layoffs, especially in banking where new lending and default servicing cycles up and down in volumes. I have seen it many times in my 32+ year banking career - and I have been with the biggest banks, regional players, and state banks. Layoffs do not mean a company is evil, mismanaged, or just does not care... these decisions to hire and fire are not made lightly...
Odd how they can layoff in the USA and relocate jobs to India..with no questions.
WF is circling the drain...cutting everything the bone. Even begging us not to use conference phone lines due to cost cutting. Also, those in zones 0 and 1 are also endangered species now...ripe for layoffs (too expensive).u
