Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

POSSIBLE INTERVIEW

Hello, I am a reporter at WHO-TV in Des Moines. I am wondering if anyone who received a pink slip today would be willing to do an interview? We want insight on how this is impacting company culture. I understand doing this could impact your severance package- with that said we can keep you completely anonymous (change your voice, no name etc.) If you're interested please email News@whotv.com

Reporter, here's your real story - see if your producer will touch it with a 10 foot pole, good luck: Two words, Federal Reserve.

Google it.

Hey Reporter, everyone would like to talk to you, but they really can't.

I'm still at Wells, so I'm not sure about how they work, but I've quit jobs and for a year or two after gotten a reminder letter via snail mail from some law firm reminding me that I promised not to talk to anyone.

Publicly traded companies do that. And they usually have something to hide. Both of the one's in my past did.

I'm not sure if they can actually enforce those NDAs, but in banking my understanding is you can be blacklisted if you work in retail. (I do not).

My job is not customer facing, and my dept is great to work in, I love my job, but my peers and I are sickened by how the bank has been treating employees and customers.

We're not involved, we didn't know, and now the work we do feels tainted by the actions of management.

It's depressing, no matter what people say in company surveys. People that read the business section, meaning most bank employees, are hoping the bad news will end, but it just keeps coming.

Reborn in 2018 or whatever is a joke around here.

We feel like enablers. Customers and employees have had lives destroyed, and we're behind the scenes helping.

And we're enablers with mortgages to pay and families to feed, which makes some of us feel even worse that we're still here. Trapped, at least in the short run.

We never really got over the bank taking TARF money then giving management bonuses while letting people go.

I used to joke around when people asked me about work, I'd say "I work for a big evil bank, so..." but I don't do that anymore.

Because Wells really is a big, evil bank.

Sorry WHO reporter. We are told to not talk to media and only to refer them to the communications team. As people got notices, etc. nobody in their right mind would chance it which would lose their severance.

It's not rocket science, company culture is being impacted negatively.

Well we now have a biweekly corporate event called LAYOFF THURSDAYS. So that's new and exciting!

The fact that the layoffs are unrelated to past or present performance or merit is a real morale booster!

When we watch management culls its best workers right alongside the dead weight do-nothings, we appreciate the dehumanizing efficiency of the process. It's a true celebration of egalitarianism!
