Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I used to care...

Now focus all that extra energy on improving yourself to be marketable outside the Death Star.

This place is going down. Management is so grossly incompetent there is no point in discussing it anymore. Randy is a wannabe movie star. He has no interest in running T like a tech company. This used to be a place for the best and brightest- (Bell Labs, etc) this company is a joke now. I can’t believe the incompetence I see on a daily basis. I used to get so upset and try to fight it all... now I just don’t care... the tragedy is- how many others are out there - those great employees who used to care who no longer do. Management ran this once great company into the ground.

my center just received notice yesterday of a vtp, well after vtp then comes the mandatory layoffs.

we have maybe 65 people left at this point and they are looking for 10 to go out of my center. management is clueless besides the other people running the show we are a one stop shop. we dont just work on t1s or t3s there is not a seperate department to hand off to, 65 people work everything on switch and private line side. t1's, t3's OC's, fiver, dark fiber, routing, translations, resale, wholesale, pri's and everything in between. Other carriers literally have a work force of a couple of hundred to do the same job 65 of us do and what we get for shouldering a huge work load is dont let the door hit you in the a** on the way out

so much for 20 years worth of service. some of the choices made by the CEO would put someone like me in jail for the amount of money that has been lost, and he gets a slap on the wrist a 20 mil $ bonus as a punishment. well damn put me in coach, I am sure I can lose a ton of money in one sided deals as long as you give me a 20 mil $ bonus at the end of the year

I worked for the company for over 12 years. They made me feel worthless every day for the past several years. Constantly being told I was going to get canned if I didn’t improve. I’m happy to report I’ve moved on and it’s the best thing I’ve done.

Agree with this post. I am one of them. Always exceeded and overachieved. After getting kicked enough times, I’m just done. Currently interviewing at other companies and planning my exit. Not that management will care when I go. I will regret leaving the good people around me that rely on me daily. I feel for them with the amount of work that will be getting shifted to them. They aren’t backfilling those that are leaving. We’ve lost quite a few and it’s starting to turn into a mass exit.
