Rumor is severance benefits will be cut from 6 months to now only 3 months. Can anyone confirm this?

And when you DO receive that check, go over each item very carefully. I had 2 issues w/ mine: one was an actual error, so the company - after several calls - finally cut me a check for $40.

If I hadn't attended those HR calls w/ surplussed employees before leaving, I wouldn't have had a clue as to which normal payroll items would be deducted from my check. Good luck!

In my experience if an employees “separation” paperwork is not done to the letter, the severance check will be delayed. If everything is done properly, by both the employee & the manager, it’s less than 6 weeks- closer to 4. You will be surprised at the scope of the documentation, but hey AT&T does know how to cover their butt. It’s probably the 1 and only time you will have full disclosure from this company. You feel like Boy Bye! Also in my experience only 1 out 20 managers know how to do the exit paperwork- after all they seem to believe it doesn’t concern them, and you know where that bunny trail goes. My advice is if you want that check, stand your ground and demand you both sit down together and go through your exit paperwork. If your manager won’t do it, doesn’t know how do it or doesn’t care to do it, go up the chain and demand it be done by your bosses boss.

Or else two months later you will be looking for your check and calling HR, but they won’t know anything because all that paperwork is part of a huge different department. For each HR onboarding specialist there is a opposite HR separation specialist. And yes there are ALWAYS lay offs going on, so it’s a huge department and they are busy.

Last I remember reading it was 1 week pay per year of service, no more than a total of 1/2 annual pay.

If you have enough years you get 1/2 your annual pay. They took out a total of 41% for tax, so I cleared 59% of the total amount. A few years back it 100% if you had 20 years but they changed the severance. The check took about 40 days for me to receive.

a bunch of excuses such as your boss saying " i had no idea this was coming " or " i had no choice " followed by "i know this does not make it any easier, but we will be busy picking up all of your extra work" then a final "don't let the door kick you in the a-- on the way out."

Still haven’t received my severance pay. I guess they stick to the 45 days timeline.

Yes. Much better. They will give you shot of Jack Daniels and grease your p0oper with vaseline before they cornhole you. Other not so lucky as they will get butraped without loob and no booze.

Now...time to bend over, grasp your ankle and thank God for appointing his son-ini-law Randall Stephenson to CEO when he retired.

Note - you might want to try dramamine if you get vertigo when bent over for long periods of time. Just a suggestion.

As earlier stated, it is pro-rated based on years of service up to a maximum of 6 months (1/2 of annual salary). From my own experience, you can expect about a third of annual salary maximum AFTER Taxes.

4% now until 12 years where it's 50% of the yearly equivalent to 6 months.

It's about a 40 page document located on One Stop..just search it. Same severance rules apply regardless of Surplus, or voluntary separation. Unless they give some kicker for voluntary. Max payout is 6 months pay if you have enough years. Used to be 5% of one years pay for every year of service, with max payout equal to 6 months...and it's full of legalese to release the company from anything.
