The rumor is there will be large cuts to the 2019 TechDev budget which will cause layoffs. Nothing is finalized yet however.
Can we get more info on this, please?

I am hoping the office policy changes since PP is retiring. Ridiculous to expect tech dev to be in the office when they have to support off hours as well.
No offense to TechDev, but your project estimates are on the ridiculous side. Come on, $30k to change a link? $44k to update a page title. Easy shirt size is $40k+. Mediums $400k+. Large $2m.
I know it wasn’t your policies that did it. It just looks really bad. Especially to leadership (I use that term loosely) that comes from the outside and knows better. Cut two zeros from your estimates and that’s being generous. If you want to know why there are cuts coming, that’s why. It’s killing us on the product side also. We can’t get things done due to no budget. Or the things we can get done are very small.
Pp has done her job and will be well rewarded for it and never have to work for the rest of her life. She set up the out sourcing infrastructure , made way for younger employees to take over , and eliminated a lot of pension liability. The board will be making out a nice check to her for her efforts soon.
I’m sure she’s being forced out. They just use the term retiring to cover the incompetence and maybe a contractual reason. Bottom line she is out and don’t know her but sounds like many that do know her think this is a good thing. Now if they start with the board and work down we might have a chance to put this company back together before it’s too late.

I've been working for ATT for four decades and I don't think I've ever seen an ATT management employee at the AVP level or higher let go for incompetence, and that's certainly not because they don't exist. For these people it seems that If you just look the part and you're reasonably fluent in corpoate-speak (or your role is to be living proof of ATT's commitment to diversity and inclusion), no matter how stupid what comes out of your mouth actually is, you're a keeper.

The Daily Office Presence is to encourage employees to take the package. Once you come to the office, you will see the depressed workforce, you may not know anyone in your temporary desk space, but your in the office. Its a grind, take the payout before the start taking out of the pension.
Tech Dev would be better off if its a total AVP and above house cleaning, bringing in IBM to put an effective organization in place with the remaining employees.
Leading Tech Dev is not the same as leading a Call Center. Both are part of the business. They are not the same. Developers are not the same as agents, just replace as needed, (and most unappreciated) there has to be some continuity in the teams to be able to deliver. The thought seems to be plug and play, read a script, press a button and it happens. Automation is happening, but has to be developed and designed effectively,
This company is one of the best at recycling policies that were proven ineffective 10 years ago. Randy, in this way you are an industry leader.
I pray Pam Parisian retires, She is who has stopped all VO for Tech Dev. Our group was told today that starting this Monday we all have to report to a location, whether you have an office or not. Five days a weeks. Only WFH allowed for dr. appointments. I foresee a lot of people getting sick on a monthly basis. What a stupid idea.
