Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

I'm wondering...

I recently stopped by and catching up on this thread. I see these possible new hours and how they're cracking down on people getting less than 40 hours. I'm wondering if it's due to the closure of clubs come January. If your average hours during your last 12 weeks is high then they have to pay you. When my club closed I averaged 45 hours per week, and I got paid that until I got my severance. I'm sure I'm not the only one since those 12 weeks are during holidays. So if they push you to stay well below 40, then close clubs they will save more money during those 60 days of still getting paid. When that's over, everyone left can start getting these new hours. Something to ponder.

Just an FYI on how business typically works... just because sales are up does not necessarily mean that your profit is up. Margins are typically very low on a majority of the items. While everyone likes to go focus on a percent of markup it doesn’t mean that it’s a lot of dollars... in other words you could be only making cents on the dollar of each item you sell. So yes it seems you should get more hours but the bottom line doesn’t necessarily mean you can. If you lasted this long on the why just remember leading into the holiday week hours/wages typically go out the door anyway. But always, always back in line in January. For those that are new or just don’t pay attention this is every year.

If you were averaging 45 hours a week, you were part of the reason your store closed, so thanks.

All I know is they got me all jacked up. I'm tired of them messing with my money all the damn time! If they don't close mine down in January, I am going some place else. I just finished my college classes not long ago. I can get a good severance if I wait until January. Either way this is my last Christmas at Sam's.
